Ancestry Databases Allow Guests to Track Immigration Records and More

Cunard’s iconic RMS Queen Mary will unveil her permanent exhibition, ‘Cunard Room’, on July 5 in
Long Beach, CA. In celebration of the opening, Cunard’s first female captain, Inger Thorhauge, along
with (number of passengers) will make a rare harbor visit on July 4 to represent all the officers, crew and
passengers that have contributed to the company’s unparalleled history.

The exhibition will showcase the luxury line’s remarkable 180-year long history and influence on
immigration, global maritime policies and technological innovation. Cunard will share its legacy through
artifacts, photographs and film. The exhibition will also feature an ‘immigration salon’ that allows
visitors to digitally explore National Park Service/Ellis Island ancestry databases and genealogy search
devices. Through the offerings visitors can discover ancestor arrival dates and specific ships that carried
them, allowing for a deeply personal experience.

contemporary Cunard experience. The company not only pioneered luxury ocean travel it played an
important role in U.S. history from its early beginnings of carrying mail and transporting millions of
immigrants, to participation as a troop ship during WWII. We are proud of our legacy and thrilled to have

First launched in 1934, the Queen Mary will celebrate her 85th Jubilee Year in September. Retired from
service in the 1960s, the ship remains known world-wide thanks to its eight decades on the public stage
and attracts over 1.5 million visitors each year. It continues to represent Cunard’s history, elegance and
technological leadership.
