2  Removal of the DD15 and DD16 Exhaust


Gas Recirculation Cooler
Remove as follows:

PERSONAL INJURY
To avoid injury from hot surfaces, wear protective gloves, or allow engine to cool before removing any
component.
Show/Hide Checkboxes
1. Steam clean the engine.
2. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to section "Cooling System Drain Procedure"
Note: Note the orientation of clamps before removal.
3. Remove the two clamps from the hot pipe. Refer to section "Removal of the Exhaust Gas
Recirculation Hot Pipe"
4. Remove the hot pipe from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler and the EGR valve.
Remove and discard two gaskets (if applicable) and spherical clamps from EGR cooler and
valve.
5. Remove the four bolts from the EGR cooler straps and remove straps.
6. Remove the EGR cooler from the water manifold.
