Gerhana Kembar Karya Clara Ng"
This research is motivated by the rise of lesbianism that often occurs in society, so that
by identifying the meanings of lesbianism in Clara Ngelum's novel by Ng Ng, we can
take the values of education contained in it, where knowing lesbian symbols can be a
reference or a benchmark for the people closest to us how to supervise the behavior that
almost approaches the lesbian. This study aims to determine and describe Lesbian
Symbols in Novel Gerhana Kembar by Clara Ng. The method used in this study is a
descriptive qualitative method, with research data in the form of words, conversations
and sentences in the form of expressions containing lesbian signs and symbols in the
novel Gerhana Kembar by Clara Ng. The data in this study were analyzed using a
semiotic approach according to Roland Barthes. Based on the results of data analysis
and discussion, it can be concluded that, in the Novel Eclipse Twins are analyzed based
on 5 codes based on the Hermeneutic code that shows the asbabun nuzul or causes of
lesbian occurrence carried out by Henrietta and Fola as a result of always having time
together, then through connotative codes or flashes of meaning that show Henrietta and
Fola's togetherness they began to express what they felt through several flashes of
meaning, symbolic codes that showed signs or symbols that only they understood
themselves that Henrietta and Fola like same-sex, then proaretic codes or actions they
take as an expression of their lesbian behavior, and the last is the Gnomic or cultural
code that shows a harmonious culture in the background of the twin eclipse novels.
Then the lesbian action is contrary to the religious values and social norms in which the
Indonesian society m Asih considers taboo the problem of lesbian behavior.
