There are plenty of places to visit in Asia, but where? The most attractive places in
Asia is Mount Fuji, which is located in Japan. The height of Mount Fuji is 3776 meters,
which is the tallest mountain in Japan. Mount Fuji is also known as “Fuji-san” by the
Japanese, which is immortalized as one of the national symbol of Japan and one of the most
iconic mountains for its spiritual and historical significance. Japan’s iconic Mount Fuji
remains a sacred site known for practitioners of the indigenous Shinto faith. Mount Fuji is the
most instantly recognizable cultural symbol, a World Heritage site, inspiration for thousands
of poems going back to the 8th century and the attraction which is the most visited by foreign
tourists.

In the past, Mount Fuji’s first eruption occurred in around 600,000 years ago and it
has been and active volcano ever since. The ground is thick with volcanic rock and soil,
which is totally devoid of animals. This forest that has become the most notorious woodland
in Japan, steeped in legend and tales. Mount Fuji’s eruptions were far more frequent hundreds
of years ago, so much that the local people had feared it. These people believed in the Great
God which is known as Asama, who had the power to keep Mount Fuji under control. The
first ascent of Mount Fuji was from a foreigner, Sir Rutherford Alcock, the first British
diplomat to live in Japan, in 1860.

Each year, between 1st and 27th of August, more than 200,000 visitors attempt to
climb to the summit of Mount Fuji each year during its climbing season. Climbing times can
be different as between four and over eight hours, depending on whether you just want to
reach the top and experience the incredible views or if you want to savor every stopping point
and rest at the stations. You can walk at night in order to see the stunning sunrise, but this
walk is often very busy, as hundreds of people work their way up the paths forming a snake
like shape. However, once you’ve reach the summit of Mount Fuji, you can enjoy the sunset.
Also, don’t be put off by the title of Japan’s tallest mountain and volcano; Mt. Fuji has been
climbed quite easily, even by beginners.

Besides climbing, there’s a few remarkable species live exclusively on the


mountains of Mount Fuji. The Japanese Serow, also known as the Kamoshika, which is
rarely seen outside of Japan. The Japanese Serow roams Japan’s mountains, from the
northerly points of Honshu, to the eastern mountains of Kyushu. The Asiatic Black Bear can

normally be found at the far west of Pakistan and Afghanistan, but a large population can be
found at the southern part of Japan. These bears are distinguished by the white ‘crescent
moon’ on their chest amongst the black haired, rare brown bears, which can normally be
found roaming the heavily wooded areas around the mountain and by the lakes of Mount Fuji.
As about other animals, There are around 37 different species of animals recorded living on
or around Mt. Fuji for you to look out for, although the Japanese Serow and black bears are
considered the most significant and certainly the most impressive. Moreover, you can visit
the site of tree frogs in the wooded areas, trout in the Kakita River and numerous insects, like
many rare Rhopalocera, which includes the Himeshirochou and Himeshijimi.

If Mount Fuji isn't a place to visit, what is? Mount Fuji is actually made up of three
separate volcanoes, which is stacked one atop the other. The first comes Komitake at the
bottom, then the second comes Kofuji and last and not least, Fuji on the top. As a fact, Mount
Fuji is a volcano, but it hasn’t erupted since December 1707, when it continued to do so until
the first day of the New Year in 1708. Mount Fuji's staggering history earmarks Japan's
triumphant history too, starting its snow-capped summit and near perfectly symmetrical peak
is famous the world over, making it one of the most recognizable volcanoes on Earth. Indeed,
Japan is a country storied in history and immortalized as one of the national symbols of
Japan.
