1.) Why global governance is multi-faceted?

 As a Global Governance student, the simplest answer would be that

Global Governance teaches how to deal with all kind of governance types.
Whether it is a private company, an NGO or a government office, you will
need to have comprehensive knowledge if you are aiming to be a
governor. Global Governance aims to prepare professionals to face global
challenges that require specific legal and economic competencies, as well
as a wide range of technical knowledge and skills to manage cultural
mediations. This is why global governance is multi-faceted.
 Security Council
 The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or
an act of aggression. It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and
recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. Under Chapter VII of the
Charter, the Security Council can take enforcement measures to maintain or restore
international peace and security. Such measures range from economic sanctions to
international military action. The Council also establishes UN Peacekeeping
Operations and Special Political Missions.
 General Assembly
 The General Assembly is the main deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of
the UN. Through regular meetings, the General Assembly provides a forum for Member
States to express their views to the entire membership and find consensus on difficult
issues. It makes recommendations in the form of General Assembly Resolutions. Decisions
on important questions, such as those on peace and security, admission of new members
and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority, but other questions are decided by
simple majority.
An international organization (also called intergovernmental organization) is
an w:organization of international scope or character. There are two main types of
international organizations: international intergovernmental organizations, whose
members are sovereign states; and w:non-governmental organizations (NGOs),
which are private organizations. Generally the term international organization is
used to mean international governmental organizations only.
On Governance unpacks the complex global dimensions of
governance, and proposes a new theory premised on the belief that
strengthened, innovative national and global governance enables
positive outcomes for people everywhere. Global governance is understood
as “…the way in which global affairs are managed. As there is no global government, global
governance typically involves a range of actors including states, as well as regional and
international organizations. However, a single organization may nominally be given the lead
role on an issue, for example the World Trade Organization in world trade affairs. Thus
global governance is thought to be an international process of consensus-forming which
generates guidelines and agreements that affect national governments and international
corporations. Examples of such consensus would include WHO policies on health issues”
(WHO, 2015).
