COAP Guidelines

The purpose of COAP is to fill all the M.Tech. seats in the participating institutes and also to provide a common
platform for all the participating PSU's to upload their Job offers to the GATE Qualified candidates
To realize this goal, the following guidelines have been proposed

1 Participating Institutes/ PSU's upload their offers (seats/ jobs) during some prefixed dates and the registered
candidates can choose any one of the available offers, during each round of offers. A candidate can select maximum
of one offer out of available offers in each round. Candidates will have the following THREE options in each round.
1.1 Option 1- 'Accept and Freeze': This option should be selected if a candidate is willing to accept one of
the available offers and does not like to be considered for upgrading to higher preferences, if any, in the
subsequent round(s) of admission. Candidates selecting this option WILL NOT be considered in the
subsequent round(s) of admission in any of the participating academic Institutes and PSUs.
After clicking the 'Accept and Freeze' option, the candidate should press 'submit' button to confirm the
submission of decision. Subsequently, the candidate should visit the respective Academic Institute's
Admission Portal or PSU's Job Portal and follow the procedure as per the instructions on the respective
website.

1.2 Option 2- 'Retain and Wait' : This option should be selected if a candidate is accepting one of the
available offers and also would like to be considered for upgrading to the candidate's higher preferences, if
any, in the subsequent round(s) of offers. Candidates selecting this option WILL NOT be considered for the
other rejected offers in the current round and also if any higher preferred offer is made in the next round
then the existing 'Retain and Wait' offer will be released. Nevertheless, the candidate will be considered for
other higher preferences, if any, in the subsequent round(s) of admission offered in the participating
academic Institutes and PSUs. After clicking the 'Retain and Wait' option, the candidate should press submit
to confirm the submission of decision. Subsequently, the candidate should visit the respective Academic
Institute's Admission Portal or PSU's Job Portal and follow the procedure as per the instructions on the
respective website.

1.3 Option 3- 'Reject and Wait': This option should be selected if the candidate is not willing to accept any of
the offer(s) of admission / job. Nevertheless, the candidate will be considered for other higher preferences,
if any, in the subsequent round(s) of admission offered in any participating academic Institutes and PSUs.
After clicking the 'Reject and Wait' option, the candidate should press submit to confirm the submission of
decision.

2. After making the final choice, candidates have to complete the submission procedure by pressing 'submit'
button. Without completing the submission procedure, it will be treated as if the candidate has not accessed the
COAP vide 5.

3 After selecting an offer of joining / admission either with "Accept and Freeze" option or with "Retain and Wait"
option, the candidate will visit the concerned organization's Webpage / Institute's M.Tech. Admission portal for the
subsequent admission / joining procedure. The admission / joining procedure should be completed by the
candidate within the due date.

4 Once a candidate declines / rejects offer(s) in a particular round, the candidate will not be considered for the
same offer(s) thereafter. However, the candidate (either with option 'Retain and Wait' or with option 'Reject and
Wait' ) will be considered for the higher preferences, if any, in the subsequent round(s) of offers.

5 Candidates should visit each round of offers till the decision of "Accept and Freeze" is made by the candidate. If a
candidate does not access the COAP or does not make a decision during a particular round of offers, then all offers
made during that round will be considered as Rejected by the candidate. Nevertheless, in case, if the candidate has
given higher preferences, then the candidate will be considered for the higher preferences, if any, in the
subsequent round(s) of offers.

6 In the final / last round of offers, registered candidates will be provided with only two options of "Accept and
Freeze" or "Reject and Quit" . Candidate should select the option "Accept and Freeze" if the candidate is willing to
accept one of the offers. After clicking the 'Accept and Freeze' option, the candidate should press submit to confirm
the submission of decision. Subsequently, the candidate should visit the respective Academic Institute's Admission
Portal or PSU's Joining Portal and follow the procedure as per the instructions on the respective website. The
admission / joining procedure should be completed within the due date.
Candidate selects the option "Reject and Quit" , if the candidate is not willing to accept any of the offers. Then all
offers made during that round will be considered as Rejected. The candidate should press submit to confirm the
submission of decision. If a candidate does not access COAP or does not make a decision during the final round of
offers, then all offers made during that round, will be considered as Rejected by the candidate.

7 It should be noted that during the operation time window of COAP, offers from participating institutes and PSUs
will be available at COAP only. Candidates are required to make a decision on acceptance or upgrade or rejection at
COAP only.

8 After the last / final round at COAP, no offers will be available at COAP. For any admission related matter,
candidates must visit the respective Academic Institute's Admission Portal or PSU's Joining Portal.

9 After the last / final round at COAP, any Institute / PSU(s) may like to fill the vacancy with additional / spot rounds,
for which candidates will follow the guidelines of the respective institute(s) / PSU(s). In this case, admission and
offer related information would be available only on respective Institute's admission or PSU's website.

1. DOCUMENT VERIFICATION ANNEXURE ‘A’

1. Please meet the Deputy Registrar (Academic) with the following documents in original, to complete the
admission formalities on the date of reporting, also bring one set xerox copies. After the payment of admission
fees, you must upload scanned copy of all the certificates and mark sheets in addition you must also upload duly
filled forms given in this attachment i.e. all the declarations/undertakings, medical proforma in the link “Click
here to Upload Certificates” on or before 10 th July 2019 in the Applicant’s interface. These forms contain “S.R.
No.” column i.e. Student Registration Number – please leave it blank while scanning these forms. After
uploading of all these documents, you will be able to print a temporary ID Card, and an Admission proforma.
These print out must be submitted at the time of reporting.

a. Matriculation or SSLC Certificate in original for verification of date of birth


b. Marks cards in original for all examinations from SSLC/Matriculation onwards.
c. Degree certificate of the qualifying examination.
d. GATE/CEED score card.
e. Candidates for M Tech/ M Des programmes should complete all the requirements for the award of their
qualifying degree including dissertation, project, viva-voce, etc. by 14th August 2019. At the time of
admission they should produce all the Marks Sheets and degree/provisional degree certificate issued by the
head of the Institution/University Authority. Such candidates will be given regular admission.
f. If you have completed all the formalities for the award of a degree but yet to receive the marks cards/degree
certificate of your qualifying examination, you should produce at the time of admission, a provisional
certificate from the University Registrar or Controller of Examination stating that you have completed all
the requirements for the award of the degree, including dissertation/project report/viva voce etc. as
applicable. Till this condition is fulfilled, your admission will be treated as provisional. However you
should produce the final degree certificate/marks card on or before 31st October 2019.
g. Two passport size colour photographs for issue of identity card.
h. If you belong to SC/ST category you should produce the original Certificate recently issued by the
competent authority.
i. If you belong to OBC non creamy layer (as listed in the Central list) you should produce the original
Certificate recently issued by the competent authority.
j. If you belong to Person with Disability (PwD) or Kashmiri Migrant (KM) you should produce the original
Certificate recently issued by the competent authority.
k. Aadhaar Card (if not available enrolment slip) to be scanned and uploaded.

2. EMPLOYED CANDIDATES : In case you are employed in a government, quasi government or government-aided
institution, or similar institution in public/private undertaking etc. you must produce a ‘Relieving Certificate’ from your
employer at the time of admission.

3. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS : The Medical Examination Form, given below, has to be filled and signed by an
Registered Medical Practitioner and presented to the Chief Medical Officer of the Institute for his scrutiny, along with the
original REPORTS, when you meet him on being admitted to the Institute. The medical examination will not be done at IISc
Health Centre and the cost incurred for the medical examination will not be reimbursed. Your admission is subject to your being
declared physically fit by the Institute Medical Officer for undertaking the course.

4. DECLARATION BY PARENT/ GUARDIAN : You must fill in the ‘Declaration by Parent/Guardian’ form given below,
and submit at the time of reporting.
Dear Prospective Student,

Please find below some of the admission forms which are required to be duly filled and signed by
you/your parents appropriately, after payment of admission fee. These forms are to be uploaded
using the link “Click here to Upload Certificates” in the Applicant’s interface on or before 10 th July
2019. You must bring the original forms along with you while reporting. The status of admission is
based on the documents that you submit, if all the documents are submitted both in online and in
original at the time of reporting, then your admission status will be “confirmed” or else the status
will be “provisional” till such time you produce the same.

5. Travelling Allowance (TA) Form – to be filled and submitted at the department.

In addition you are also required to bring a print out of the following
a. Online application form.
b. Admission offer letter and
c. One set of copies of certificates/mark sheets from 10th Std onwards.

Further, you must enter your bank account details that is aadhaar seeded (only SBI or CANARA
Bank accounts are acceptable) by using “Update Bank Account Number” link in the Applicant’s
interface. In case you do not have an account in the above said banks, you may open the account
after joining the Institute within 30 days either in CANARA BANK or State Bank of India,
available in the IISc campus.

You should produce all these print outs together at the counter in the Faculty Hall where you will
be provided with a token number for the admission process, on first come first served basis.

Plese note: Using of motorised vehicle is restricted in the Campus and


hence all are requested to use bicycle for transportation within the
campus.

For your information on arrival at Bangalore for admission – Accommodation is provided only after the
admission formalities are completed. Hence students who are coming one/two days before the reporting
dates may stay at their convenient place and come for reporting on the dates given in the offer letter. It may
also be noted that the accommodation will not be provided to the parents.
Indian Institute of Science is popularly called ‘TATA INSTITUTE’ in Bangalore. It is situated at a distance
of approximately 6 Kms. from the Bangalore City Railway Station/City Bus Station/Cantonment Railway
Station and within 2 Kms. of the Yeshwanthpur Railway Station. Bus numbers from Bangalore City Bus
Station are 273, 276, 99A, 99B, 272, 252.
