Grade 11- Aquamarine

Problem:
Solve for the right triangle with hypotenuse of 20 and one leg opposite
angle is 16.
Illustration:
B Find: b=?
A=?
c= 20 B=?
a=16

C
C A
b=?

Solution:
b= √𝑐 2 + 𝑎2 sinA = a/c B = 90° - A
= √202 + 162 = 16/20 = 90°- 53°7’
= √400+ 256 = 0.8
B= 36°53’
= √656 A = 53°7’
b= 25.61

Problem:
Solve for the right triangle with hypotenuse of 326.75 and B=50°30’.
Illustration:
B= 50°30’ Find: A=
a=
b=
a=? c= 326.75

C b=? A

Solution:
A= 90°- B cosB= a/c sinB= b/c
= 90°- 50°30’ cos50°30’= a/326.75 sin50°30’=b/ 326.75
a= (326.75)( cos50°30’) b= (326.75)( sin50°30’)
A = 39°30’
