“Mamita” is usually used
to call someone’s grandmother.

While people would say, it is a dimmunitive of “mamá”,


the proper dimmunitive of “mamá” is “mamacita”.
“Mamita” is preferred by grandmothers
as it doesn’t sound as “ancient”
as when we call someone “abuela”.

Again, this is the Philippine usage.
