7th Grade Science

Mr. Scott Musil, Instructor

Welcome to 7th grade Science!!! We have an exciting year ahead of us.

Ways To Be Successful
There are a few very simple things that you can do to be successful in this class:

1. Always show respect to the teacher and your classmates.

This includes no name calling, pushing, hitting, etc.
This also includes no talking while the teacher is talking or other students are
talking.
2. Always follow the lab safety rules.
3. Turn in assignments on time.

Grading
All assignments and tests will be worth points. 70% of a student’s grade comes from an average
of that student’s test scores and 30% of a student’s grade comes from an average of that student’s
assignment score. A letter grade will be assigned according to the school’s grading policy listed
in the student handbook. All students receiving a failing grade on test will be required to retake
the test after talking with the teacher. The vast majority of assignments will be done in class
where the student can ask the teacher for assistance if necessary. Students may be able to redo
failing assignments during Intervention time, but this must be discussed with the teacher.

Science
This year we will be studying many different Science topics. In science, we will be doing many
laboratory experiments to help show some of the different concepts we will be talking about.

All students and their parent/guardian will be required to sign a safety contract listing the safety
rules to be following during all laboratory activities. At the beginning of the year, we will
discuss laboratory safety.

Here are the main topics we will discuss throughout the year.

Earth Systems Photosynthesis

History of Earth Respiration
Phases of Matter Ecology
Chemical Reactions
