1 INITIAL INSTALLATION OF THE FLC SOFTWARE

1.1 Preconditions
not permitted without written authorization from Alcatel.
All rights reserved. Passing on and copying of this
document, use and communication of its contents

– This document describes an initial installation of the FLC for the 1678 Metro Core Connect R3.1A.

– The operator must be familiar with LINUX and Windows2000.

– One or two FLCs are available and equipped with an EM04A and an DCR board.

– We have to distinguish between the following two start conditions:

• The FLCs are coming from factory and have never been installed before.

In this case both FLC boards must be plugged out before starting installation.

• The FLCs have already been installed before ( with old CORE, SKY or ION releases ).

In this case both FLCs must be in Maintenance state before starting installation.

– During installation only one LAN cable connected to one of the two redundant FLCs is supported.

– A Debug–Cable ( console cable ) for connection between installServer and FLC must be available
( only used during the installation ).

It must be checked that the Voltage difference between the electrical ground of the
1678MCC and the Safety Edge of the 110/220V NET is lower than 3V! In case of a higher
voltage difference please contact PSC before proceeding further.

– A F–Interface–Cable for connection between the CT and FLC must be available.

– 3xCD-ROMs with

• the FLC Platform Software ( CORE build + Rawloader V8.1.0 from 20.Juli 2004).

• the FLC Application Software ( SKY build + U–Boot Rawloader as rpm package).

• the FLC Application Software ( ION build; if required ).

– The CORE–xxx CD must be copied ( inserted ) first to the PC/Laptop ( see 1.2.1.1 e) ).

– The DCR board must be equipped with 512 MByte of main memory. This can be checked during boot-
ing of the DCR board. Look for the line “Physical memory Equipped” during booting. A reboot can
be triggered by pressing the reset button once on the FLC.

– The Compact Flash Card (CF) on the DCR board is not used but has to be plugged in.

– The configuration of the GMRE nodeAddress is described in the Network Configuration Guide.

– The GMRE nodeAddress must be in another subnet as the FLC.

recommendation: 10.10.255.<number of node>

– The following data must be available for the configuration of the FLC ( after installation ):

• required protocol stack (QB3 or RFC1006 or F–Interface).

• Area address and System ID ( must be unique; e.g the MAC address of the DCR board can
be used as System ID ).

1.2.9.3 Fan Speed

The fan speed can be read on pShell / telnet session to the ACTIVE SLC with command:

pSH+> eq getPot 22 4 0 (upper fan #1)

pSH+> eq getPot 22 4 1 (upper fan #2)
pSH+> eq getPot 22 4 2 (upper fan #3)

pSH+> eq getPot 25 4 1 (lower fan #2)
pSH+> eq getPot 25 4 2 (lower fan #3)

A value lower than 63 indicates no full speed.

In this case the fan speed must be adjusted with the following command:

pSH+> eq setPot 22 4 0 63 (upper fan #1)

pSH+> eq setPot 22 4 1 63 (upper fan #2)
pSH+> eq setPot 22 4 2 63 (upper fan #3)

personal. For details see the description in Chapter 1.2 on page 7.

The installation of both FLC at the same time is currently not supported. Therefore the installation
must be executed for each FLC separately.

The whole installation must be executed as user install.

1.3.1 Preparation of the Installation Procedure

1.3.1.1 Preparation of the InstallServer

These steps have to be done only once until the software versions are unchanged.

a) Delete an already existing version file:

C:/ALCATEL/cygwin/home/install/installserver/VERSION

b) Insert the CORE, SKY and ION CD successive into the CD drive. Begin with the CORE CD.

c) Setup of the sibdl tool by executing the following command using the Windows2000 explorer:
C:\ALCATEL\release\CORE–xxx\FLC\pack\rawloader\SIBDL_setup_2_2_0.exe
Install the sibdl tool to the C:\ALCATEL\SIBDL_2.2.0 directory.

d) Configure the two serial interfaces to the DCR and EM boards.

e) Adapt the network configuration of the installServer PC/Laptop to the network configuration of the
FLC. Use therefore a free IP–Address in the subnet of the FLC to be installed.

The configuration of DNS server is not necesary.

1.3.1.2 Preparation of the FLC

a) Connect the installServer via LAN interface to the FLC ( over hub/switch or directly ).

b) Connect the console cable between the COM1 and COM2/COM5 of the installServer PC/Laptop with
the console interface on the FLC. Refer to Figure 1. on page 4.

1.3.2 FLC Installation

1.3.2.1 Check Status of the FLCs

a) Open two console windows on the installServer PC/Laptop.

EM04A board <–––> COM1
DCR board <–––> COM2/COM5

b) If the FLC to be installed have an already running application in active or passive state, you have to
shutdown the application on both FLCs before starting the installation. The application on the passive
FLC must be stopped first to avoid an FLC switch.
1AA 00014 0004 (9007) A4 – ALICE 04.10

c) If the FLC is already plugged in refer to chapter 1.3.2.4 b) on page 52 for later reboot.

ED 01 DRAFT

3AL 24169 ABAA PCZZA 51 / 56

56
d) If the FLC is a new one from factory ( never been installed before ) plug in the FLC to be installed
and interrupt immediatelly the download of the EM04A board in the Console window. The EM04A
board should be in MenMon mode afterwards.

a) Change to the DCR console window on the PC/Laptop. Reboot the DCR board and send a break to
get the pSH+> shell. Check the rawloader version.

pSH+> raw

b) If the DCR board is blocking please press the reset button on the FLC once. This will cause a reboot
anyway.

c) If the RAWLOADER Version is not V8.1.0 from 20 Juli 2004 continue with 1.3.2.3 , else skip to
1.3.2.4.

1.3.2.3 Download the RAWLOADER Software

a) Change in the Genesis mode of the DCR board type.

pSH+> reset –g
GEN>

b) Disconnect the console to the DCR via TeraTerm dialog “File–>Disconnect”.

c) Open a command window under Windows2000 ( Start –> Run –> cmd ).

d) Change to the SIBDL directory.

> C:
> cd C:\ALCATEL\SIBDL_2.2.0

e) Start the download of the RAWLOADER using the command:

> sibdl C:\ALCATEL\release\CORE–01F\FLC\pack\rawloader\flc_rwl_gns.x –a ff70,20 –e
COM<x>,38400 –g –f –k

where “COM<x>” is the used serial interface connected to the DCR board

Now the rawloader is installed. The installation takes about 10 minutes.

f) Reconnect the console to the DCR board using the dialog “File –> New Connection”, choose the
COM2/COM5 serial port and press the “OK” button.
GEN> reset –p
Press enter to get the pSH+> prompt.
pSH+>

g) For trouble shooting refer to the detailed description on page 16.

1.3.2.4 Start the Installation

a) Start the aiGuideWizzard tool as user install using a cygwin window:

$ cd /home/install
$ aiGuideWizzard

b) Enter the required FLC configuration data. The NTP server is mandatory.
1AA 00014 0004 (9007) A4 – ALICE 04.10

If the FLC is not yet in MENMON mode you must reboot the FLC by pressing the reset button for
about 3 seconds. Both, EM and DCR board will reboot in this case. Interrupt the booting sequence
by pressing the ESC button just after the message “Init ECC memory...” appears.

This operation will start the FLC installation.

1.3.2.5 Download of the CORE, SKY and ION Software

a) The netboot_xxx.img should download now. Do not stop the booting sequence on the EM con-
sole.

b) Trigger the CORE build installation on the EM04A and DCR board.

c) Subsequently the SKY installation will be started automatically.

d) The ION installation will be started automatically ( only if the ION installation is required ).

e) At the end of the ION installation a saveCurrentInstallation will be executed.

f) Due to the fact that the installation is running automatically, the installation can only be observed. See
the detail description for other debugging hints.

Wait until the installation is completed using the console window ( refer to Figure 8. on page 29 ) or the
aiGuide.trace file.

g) Check the date on the EM04A and DCR board via the “date” command. Both boards must have the
same date and time.

h) Check the modules file on the DCR board using a cygwin window. Login on the currently installed
FLC ( EM board ):
appl@emCongA88(appl)$start
appl@emCongA88(STARTUP)$ cat /dcrroot/etc/modules
cplab–dwl–fpga dwl_major=241
cplab–spi spi_major=240 flc=1
mac–drv
llc2–drv my_slot=20 issb_cfg=20
klapd

The issb_cfg parameter must be set to 20. If issb_cfg is not equal 20 you have to execute the worka-
rounds described in step i ) – k ), else continue with Chapter 1.3.2.6.

i) In case of wrong entries in the modules file, install the COREUpdate rpm package again as user
install.

k) Reset the related DCR board by executing the following command on the EM board:
appl@emCongA88(STARTUP)$ /usr/local/sbin/resetDCR

Check the modules file on the DCR board again by excuting step h ).

1.3.2.6 Install the redundant FLC

The installation of the redundant FLC is done in the same way as for the first FLC. Therefore repeat
the steps described in 1.3.1.2 b) to 1.3.2.5 g).

1.3.3 Check the Status and the Persistency Synchronization

a) The application on both FLCs should run in ACTIVE/PASSIVE state.

b) Check the synchronization state on both FLCs.

All persistency domains should have the state “S” for synchronized.

1.3.4 Rawloader Update

Update the rawloader on the DCR board (new u–boot rawloader):

• The application must be stopped before.

• login to local DCR board

appl@emCongA88(appl)$ ssh root@localdcr
