Replace Unit

 Replace SMEC procedure


 SMEC activated release update

• Set on the SPARE SMEC board, the DIP switches in “RESET DATABASE” mode (Switch 1=OFF
and Switch 2 = ON) then insert this board.

N.B. Note : FROM THAT POINT NEVER CHANGE THE SMEC DIP SWITCHES POSITION
AS LONG AS THE SUPERVISION IS NOT ESTABLISHED ON THE Q3 CRAFT TERMINAL.

• Assume that the current activated release is correct; otherwise perform a software download then a
software activation.

 Network configuration restoration from DCC

• Extract the SPARE SMEC and set its DIP switches in the ”DATABASE restore from DCC” position
(Switch 1= OFF and Switch 2 = OFF).

• Insert the SMEC and wait until the supervision will be recovered on the craft terminal.

• Check that the following parameters are correctly restored : LOCAL address, OS address, LAPD
configuration, Ethernet configuration.

• Extract the SMEC and set the DIP switches to the “Normal“ position (Switch 1 = ON).

 Data restoration from craft terminal

• Insert the spare SMEC then enter in the following menu

• Download MIB management with selecting the file containing the previously saved database then click
on “Restore”.

• Wait until the end of the operation then click on database “Activation”.

• Wait until the end of USM display refresh according with the database.

• For the 4.0 Release, set the Ethernet configuration. The database restoration is then completed.

 Reboot of SMEC after DCC–AUX extraction

The SMEC restarts when the DCC–AUX is extracted. The bug occurs when only one converter is
plugged. So, the recommendation is to have always two converter boards per shelf.
 APSD control not refreshed when the laser state change
 When we work on APSD mode, the window of APSD control is not refresh when the laser state
change.
 You must closed the window and re–open it in order to have the correct state of the laser.
