I went back home to my old town in Santa Teresita in Cagayan to search for my certificates for my
appeal for promotion in my work as a teacher. However, as I take a steps in my town, my mind suddenly
having a flashbacks of what happened before and the nostalgia is making me feel like I am 18 years old
again.

As I search for my certificates in Best in Math and other achievements that can help me to have more
poins in my promotion I stumble into a piece of voice tape. “for my one and onli lab, atu” My heart skips
a beat for this was owned by my late uncle who passed away.

Instead of finding the certificates, this voice tape is what I found. A piece that can unfold the past and
the mystery it hids

I was in my second year in highschool that time. I remember clearly that I was walking towards my
school and neverminding the fact that I am very late. Maybe due to the fact that I am on my sophomore
years and I am not that scared anymore. I decided to stay under my fav tree.

Who was it? I felt like my heart is racing hell . I never felt this extreme nerviousness in my whole life. Is
it Boying ? Boying is my friend who is always late just like me. Maybe, when he saw our principsl sister
caridad going out from the church, then he ran fast and not minding the Manny trans. Nakupo!

My uncle atu was the younger brother of my mother. He was different from her other brothers. He was
kind and responsible. However, he met Magdalena and instanstly fell inlove with her. They were so
inlove with each other and at early age they decided to marry each other. My mother and her siblings
help each other to make their younger brother’s wedding successful. It was grand. there were even
musics in the gym where the reception was held.
They lived happily with their 3 kids even if they are poor. However, it was during the time where many
people from their town chose to be an ofw on abu dhabi where there has much more salary. auntie
magdalina was one of them. Uncle atu even sold his cow just to pay for auntie’s ticket

they thought it is a start for their bright future but life leds them to the opposite.

During the funeral, I was tasked to watch over uncle atu. Iienglish na ni sian kay hurot na akong english
hahahah

Nahadlok ko na nagbantay kay basin way ungo so humarap ako sa bangkay kasi natatakot akong
mabuhay ulit ito at baka nasa harapan ko na. naalala ko rin ang iyak ni nanay nung namatay si uncle.
Hindi ko siya nakitangf umiyak ng ganun kahit noong namatay ang kanyang tatang.

Ngunit kahit ng ilibing na si uncle atu ay wala paring magdallena ang dumating.

Naalala ko pa, isang araw habang nagsusulat ako ng assignment ay biglang dumanting si uncle atu na
obviously was coming from the farm. He wanted me to write a letter for auntie magdalena bcs he
doesn’t know how to write.

Dear Mahal,

Kumusta ka na diyan? Hindi ka ba nahilo noong sumakay ka ng bus, saka sa eroplano?Ano,

kumusta ang amo mo? Sira ulo ba? ’Wag siyang loloko-loko kung ayaw niya ng gulo.

Kumusta naman ang pagkain mo? Siya, kung di mo kaya ang hirap diyan, umuwi ka na’t
magkasama tayong magtitiyagang makaahon.

Alagaan mong mabuti ang sarili mo. ‘Wag mong alalahanin ang mga bata dahil ang tatlong
lalaki, kaya na nilang magsaing, magpastol at mag-ayos ng bahay. Panay ang hiling nina
inang (ang biyenan niyang babae) na doon muna sa kanila titira si Princess. Pero di ba’t
napag-usapan na natin ’yan noon? Na ako ang magiging ama’t ina nila? Dahil si Princess nga
naman ang pumapawi sa pangungulila ko sa ’yo. Sa bawat araw na lumipas, lalo kitang
nakikita sa kanyang mukha at kilos…

…’Wag mo munang alalahanin ang pagpapadala mo dahil sabi naman ng ate na banggitin ko
lang sa kanila kung may kailangan kami.

Nuong unay inakala namin lahat na aksidente lang lahat. Ngunit ang sabi raw ay nagpakamatay talaga si
uncle atu

10. Sabi nila, inaabuso raw si Auntie Magdalena sa Abu Dhabi. Hindi raw naging maganda nag naging
tratu ng kanyang amo sa kanya.

Hanggang ngayon ay hindi ko parin lubos na maisip kung bakit nagkaganun ang naging kapalaran ni
angkel atu
