Subject/Grade level: Human Geography/9th grade
Unit topic (if applicable): Industrialization
Lesson title or topic: Economics and Development
Estimated length of lesson: 50minutes

TEKS Standards:
I am doing this lesson to reinforce economic vocabulary of industrialization unit and enhance
students’ grasp on the Rostow Model.
(11A)(11B)(11C)(22CD)
Learning Objective(s): Students should be able to identify the types of states. Students should be
able to read and use maps to gather information.
Academic Language: Students should be able to recall economic vocabulary associated with
industrialization.
Grouping: Students will work in mixed groups created by Quizzlet. Students will then resume to
working individually on their quizzes, then on their foldable.
Materials: IPad, quiz, pencil, pink paper, textbook
Introduction: I will begin the lesson by reviewing the procedures of logging into Quizzlet live. I
will allow for two to three rounds of quizlet live before taking their quiz.

Body of the Lesson:

1. I will open up Quizlet on the projector and start a game.
2. Students will then log into the game and follow the group arrangements. They will play
two to three rounds.
3. Students will then put their IPads away and take out a pencil.
4. Once they are ready I will hand out a quiz to them. They are to begin their quiz as soon as
they receive it.
5. When they are finished with their quiz, they are to turn it in into the Alpha sorter and read
the upfront magazine or work on homework while everyone else finishes.
6. Once everyone else is done, I will give each student a pink paper. Students are to fold the
paper in half (the long way) leaving at least a centimeter from the bottom, then they are to
fold into fifths. (I will have a model for them to see before they do their own)
7. They will then cut the shorter tab along the four folds. They will then write Rostow
model on the tab. The five shorter tabs will be labeled according to the five stages of the
Rostov model.
8. In the inside of that tab students will write what each is and draw a picture to go along
with it.

Conclusion (closure): Students will complete the Rostow Model Foldable. They will seek
understanding of the model not only by reading it but by writing it and drawing a picture of each
stage.
Assessment: Before the lesson they should already know the vocabulary being used and know
what it means. They should be able to use it when discussing probable answers. During the
activity they will get to practice their knowledge of the words before they apply it in their quiz.
They will also be able to follow the steps to complete their foldable. By drawing a picture of
each stage it will help them memorize and understand what each stage is.
