Introduction:-

Netflix, Inc. is an American media-service provider headquartered in Los Gatos, California,


founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in Scotts Valley, California. The
company's primary business is its subscription-based streaming OTT service which offers
online streaming of a library of films and television programs, including those produced in-
house. As of April 2019, Netflix had over 148 million paid subscriptions worldwide, including
60 million in the United States, and over 154 million subscriptions total including free trials. It
is available almost worldwide except in mainland China (due to local restrictions) as well as
Syria, North Korea, Iran, and Crimea (due to US sanctions). The company also has offices in
the Netherlands, Brazil, India, Japan, and South Korea. Netflix is a member of the Motion
Picture Association of America (MPAA).

Prime Video, also marketed as Amazon Prime Video, is an American Internet video on
demand service that is developed, owned, and operated by Amazon. It offers television
shows and films for rent or purchase and Prime Video, a selection of Amazon Studios original
content and licensed acquisitions included in the Amazon's Prime subscription. In
the UK, US, Germany, Sweden, and Austria, access to Prime Video is also available through a
video-only membership, which does not require a full Prime subscription. In France and Italy,
Rent or Buy and Prime Video are not available on the Amazon website and Prime Video
content is only accessible through a dedicated website. In some countries Prime Video
additionally offers Amazon Channels, which allows viewers to subscribe to other suppliers'
content, including HBO in the United States.

Review of literature:-

According to “Fred of Fort Wayne (2019) NetFlix has a wide variety of movies and shows, the
picture quality is good enough since we're not videophiles, sometimes we will be watching
something and for a split moment the screen goes black which is probably due to internet speed
once in a while lags. I kind of wish Netflix would put their entire library on the internet instead
of having to order DVDs for a lot of films, but maybe that would require a huge increase in the
cost of the servicing since they would have to be able to stream a lot more stuff?”

According to “William of Woodbridge (2019) Selection and quality are both good, but
occasionally I have to pay for movies that are supposedly included in my Prime membership.
When using this in a web-browser, it is easy to find specific movies, but on a TV, it is a pain
in the butt using just the TV remote. My remote has an A/N keyboard, but it seldom works.
Though to be truthful, I can't tell if it is an issue with the TV [Vizio] or the Amazon service.

Research methodology:-

Objectives:-

To study the performance of Netflix

To study the performance of Amazon Prime Video

To understand the customer preference towards Netflix and Amazon Prime Video

Hypothesis:-

People prefer Netflix over Amazon Prime Video

OR

People do not prefer Netflix over Amazon Prime Video

Sampling:-

Total sample size is 30.

Sources of data collection:-

Primary Source:- Data was generated through a questionnaire as a research instrument.

Secondary Source:- Internet, E-books, Journals were used for detailed information.

Limitations:-

The sample size is restricted to limited people, target audience can be expanded for a better
research.

The sample size can be expanded to other parts of the country.

As we do not have an extensive experience in primary data collection, there are huge
possibilities that the nature of implementation of data collection is not correct.

Data Analysis:-

56.7% people are in the age group of 15 to 20.

40% people are in the age group of 20 to 25

3.3% people belong to the age group of 25 to 30.

66.7% are males and 33.3% are females.

46.7% people prefer watching TV Series online.

30% people prefer watching both online.

23.3% people prefer watching Movies online.

76.7% people prefer Netflix for it.

23.3% people prefer Amazon Prime Video for it.

60% people currently have it’s subscription.

40% people currently do not have it’s subscription.

36.7% people stream it moderately likely.

10% people stream it not so likely.

66.6% people find stream service recommendations helpful for finding Movies or TV series to
watch.

13.3% people do not find stream service recommendations helpful for finding Movies or TV
series to watch.

83.3% people are excited for the upcoming TV Series “SACRED GAMES 2”.

16.7% people are not excited for the upcoming TV Series “SACRED GAMES 2”.

Findings and conclusion: -

1) 56.7% people are in the age group of 15 to 20.


2) 66.7% are males and 33.3% are females.
3) 46.7% people prefer watching TV Series online
4) 76.7% people prefer Netflix for it.
5) 60% people currently have it’s subscription.
6) 53.3% people stream it very likely.
7) 66.6% people find stream service recommendations helpful for finding Movies or TV
series to watch.
8) 83.3% people are excited for the upcoming TV Series “SACRED GAMES 2”.

On the basis of analysis, following conclusions can be made on the comparison between
NETFLIX and AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

1) It was found that most people prefer Netflix in comparison to Amazon Prime Video as it has
a better UI as well as it has better streaming options.

2) Research shows that Netflix is more worthy than Amazon Prime Video and Netflix is more
expensive than Amazon Prime Video

3) It also shows that Netflix provides better movies and TV series than Amazon Prime Video.

4) Hence the research on this project shows that Netflix has better overall streaming options as
compared to Amazon Prime Video.
