Installation Conditions

Restrictions on the installation environment Other restrictions

1. Do not install RTN 380H on a guyed tower. Do not install RTN 380H and antennas of wireless equipment on the same pole.
2. Even if the requirements for link reliability can be met and the equipment installation environment allows
equipment to run properly in any weather conditions (the sway angle and twist angle of towers and poles meet
requirements), use rooftop towers, thin mast towers, and common self-supporting towers (non-high towers)
with caution based on the local actual situations.

Restrictions on the installation on a rooftop upright pole

When installing RTN 380H on a rooftop upright pole, ensure that:
1. Antennas with a diameter of 0.3 m or less are used. RTN 380H can be installed on a rooftop upright pole only on
the last microwave hop at the network tail.
2. A mono-rooftop mast is supported by three stress support bars. The angle between the stress support bars is 90º
or 120º. This ensures that the mast can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the wind.
3. Only one microwave antenna is installed on one pole.
4. A pole is supported by two side support bars to ensure that the pole does not sway or twist in the wind.
5. A pole is not higher than 6 m.
6. An antenna is not installed on the top of a pole. An antenna should be installed at a lower position that is close to
the support point. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.

Restrictions on the installation on a thick mast tower

When installing RTN 380H on a thick mast tower, ensure that:
1. Antennas with a diameter of 0.3 m or less are used.
2. A pole is installed securely. It can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the wind.
3. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.

Restrictions on the installation on a self-supporting tower (high tower in the central

equipment room)
When installing RTN 380H on a self-supporting tower, ensure that:
1. Antennas with a diameter of 0.3 m or less are used.
2. An antenna is installed at a position that is lower than 50% of the tower height. The twist angle of the antenna is
less than 0.69º. For example, if a tower is 60 m high, an antenna should be installed at a position lower than 30 m.
3. The tower is not overloaded.
4. A pole is installed securely. It can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the wind.
5. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.

Restrictions on the installation on the wall, chimney, or concrete tower

When installing RTN 380H on the wall, chimney, or concrete tower, ensure that:
1. Antennas with a diameter of 0.6 m or less are used.
2. Use the wall-mounting mode. A pole can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the wind.
3. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.

1. Cover unused ports with caps/PG covers. Retain removed caps for future use.
2. Before installing the RTN 380H, remove the protective cover and film on the antenna port. Otherwise, the signal transmission will be affected.
3. Different methods can be used to change the polarization direction of antennas. If the method provided in this document is not suitable for the type of antenna you have, use the method provided in the installation manual delivered with your antennas.
4. The polarization direction of antennas is vertical by default. If the planned polarization direction is horizontal, change the polarization direction to horizontal.
5. If an antenna with a diameter of 0.2 m, 0.3 m or 0.6 m is used in a direct mount scenario, you may install the RTN 380H on the antenna and then hoist them both into position on the tower.
6. Before installing a cable, bind the cable section that links the cable connector to the pole. This will protect the cable connector from damage. Be sure that the length of cable running from the binding point to the RTN 380H is sufficient to attach the cable connector to
the Ethernet service port on the RTN 380H.
7. To facilitate installation, install cables from left to right.

the eye lens tube and the prism table as well between the objective lens tube and the prism table have undergone
necessary anti-loosing treatments. Any rotating operation or disassembly among the eye lens tube, objective lens tube, and

•As the support plate is closely fitted with the objective lens tube with a locking ring, the locking ring needs to be loosened if
you attempt to rotate the objective lens tube for adjustment. After the adjustment is complete, immediately tighten the

Laying out Cables

Installing sign plate labels
General requirements

1. Bend radius
For power and PGND cables, ensure a bend radius of at least three times the cable diameter.
2. Cable binding
•Bind different cables separately. Maintain an interval of at least 30 mm between cable bindings.
•Bind cables securely and neatly, without damaging the cable jackets.
•Ensure that cable ties face the same direction and are aligned in rows horizontally.
•Cut off the excess of each indoor cable tie but leave a slack of about 5 mm for each outdoor cable tie. Ensure that all cut 1. Outdoor cable tie

3. Safety
•Lay out cables away from sharp objects or jagged walls, or protect cables using conduit.
•Lay out cables away from heat sources, or add heat-insulation materials between cables and heat sources.

Checking the Installation

Checking the Cables of RTN 380H

No. Check Item

1 All outdoor connections and ground clips are moistureproofed or waterproofed.

2 The cable connectors are assembled correctly and securely.

3 Cables are not bent or twisted and the shield layer of the power cable is intact.

4 There is a drip loop in the cable after it leaves the RTN 380H.

5 There is a drip loop in the cable before it enters the equipment room.

6 The minimum bending radius of the cables is greater than 30 cm (11.8 inches).

7 Cables are placed tidily and are not cross-connected.

8 Cables are bound to the cable ladder or tray at intervals of approximately 1 m (3.28 feet).

9 Binding tapes are cut off with an excess section reserved at the ends.

10 Attach and bind cable labels correctly. Labels must be aligned and face the same direction.

11 The excess cable is coiled into a roll with a diameter not less than 60 cm (23.62 inches). The roll is bound to the pole or
the tower.

12 The cable ground point is properly protected.

13 The power cable does not bend in the range of 0.5 m (1.64 feet) above and below the ground clip.

14 The ground cable is routed from the top downwards and the angle between the ground cable and other cables is less
than 15 degrees.

15 The ground cable of the RTN 380H is properly connected.
