After establishing the “01001100” NRZ Data Signal, the bias control of U-2970F was

adjusted to the middle to establish a low noise digital signal in the oscilloscope.
Consequently, a tone could be heard from the audio module which is in reference to the
signal. As we adjust the bias values, it was observed that noise within the signal is
possessed by the waveform and also heard from the audio module. From these, it was
determined by the group that when the bias indicator is at the middle, it produces the
cleanest waveform while turning it further would create further noise. This only means
that the Bias should be established at the level unaffected by noise.

For the next segment of the experiment, the group discovered the concept of finding
Error Signal and Parity Bit. Throughout this part of the experiment, it was observed that
when generation an error in the input signal by pressing an arbitrary button at the U-
2970H data receiver module, there results a yellow lamp parity Error for that particular
bit. Therefore with regards to this part of the experiment, it tells our group[p that we can
generate errors for a particular bit that was received and it will be signified by a lamp
telling us which particular bit was affected by the error.

For Error Correction, the group focused its attention to the two row lamps located at the
lowest position among the indicators which is labelled as “Error Position” and “Corrected
Data”. It was observed that when no errors are pressed, no parity lamps will turn on and
the corrected data lamps will be the same that of the data source. However, when
errors are pressed, then parity lamps will turn on to the location where the error is
found. Meanwhile, correction has been done as the correction lamps is still with relation
to hat of the lamps in the data source module.

Conclusion
After finalizing the experiment, it is with conclusiveness that the group was
able to show how a receiver can play back perfectly the transmitted signals
corrupted by various types of noise into information signals within a
correctable range. This is validated by the waveform showing minimal noise after
adjusting bias level inputs.

Through the experiment, we also have learned more about the function of the error
generating buttons, the parity lamps and the correction lamps. Whenever a error is
ecountered it is to be found and is to be corrected respectively.
