A multi-objective production scheduling case study solved by simulated annealing

Abstract

During several decades, research in production scheduling mainly concerns a single criterion to optimize. However,
the analysis of the performance of a schedule often involves more than one aspect and therefore requires multi-
objective analysis. Such situation appears in the real case study considered here.

This paper deals with a production scheduling problem in a flexible (or hybrid) job-shop with particular constraints:
batch production; existence of two steps: production of several sub-products followed by the assembly of the final
product; possible overlaps for the processing periods of two successive operations of a same job. At the end of the
production step, different objectives should be considered simultaneously, among the make span, the mean
completion time, the maximal tardiness, the mean tardiness. The research is based on a real case study,
concerning a Tunisian firm. We propose a multi-objective simulated annealing approach to tackle this problem and
to propose to the manager an approximation of the set of efficient schedules.

Solving the flexible job shop scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times

Abstract

This paper addresses the flexible job shop scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times and where
the objective is to minimize the make span. We first present a mathematical model which can solve small instances
to optimality and serves as a problem representation. After studying structural properties of the problem using a
disjunctive graph model, we develop a tabu search algorithm with specific neighborhood functions and a
diversification structure. Extensive experiments are conducted on benchmark instances. Test results first show that
our algorithm outperforms most existing approaches for the classical flexible job shop scheduling problem.
Additional experiments also confirm the significant improvement achieved by integrating the propositions
introduced in this study.

An Integrated Model for Job-Shop Planning and Scheduling

Abstract

We consider an integrated job-shop planning and scheduling model. To solve the problem, we use a (multi-pass)
decomposition approach which alternates between solving a planning problem with a fixed sequence of products
on the machines, and a job-shop scheduling problem for a fixed choice of the production plan. The generated
production plans are feasible i.e., there exists at least one feasible schedule to realize that plan. Quality of the
solution is investigated, and numerical results are presented.

Research on separate production workshop dynamic productive plan and real-time monitoring system

Abstract:
This system will enhance the production efficiency and the management level of separate production workshop. It
makes up the flaw in the ERP implementation process and proposes the more concrete data acquisition and the
control method in view of the production. This method implementation will be able to cause the planned time
fixed quantity to be more accurate gradually and cause the plan and the control to be more convenient and
accurate. So it provides the basis for the work norm formulation and the achievements inspection.
