INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT:
Start the inspection from the step 1 in case of using hand−held tester and start from step 2 in case of not
using hand−held tester.
1 READ VALUE OF HAND−HELD TESTER

(a) Connect the hand−held tester to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON and push the hand−held tester main switch ON.
(c) Select the item ”TRQ1” and ”TRQ2” in the DATA LIST and read its value displayed on the hand−held
tester.
(d) Check the values on the ”TRQ1” and ”TRQ2” of the data monitor with the steering wheel being in the
center value position (no load).
OK:
TMC made: 2.2 − 2.8 V
TMUK made: 2.3 − 2.7 V
(e) Check the difference of the values between ”TRQ1” and ”TRQ2” with the steering wheel being in the
center value position (no load).
OK:
Voltage: 0.3 V or less
(f) Check the values of the torque sensor on the data monitor when turning steering wheel.
(1) Turn the steering wheel to the right end from the center value position, and check the values on
the ”TRQ1” and ”TRQ2” of the data monitor.
OK:
TMC made:
TRQ1 TRQ2
2.2 − 4.85 V 2.2 − 4.85 V
TMUK made:
TRQ1 TRQ2
2.5 − 4.7 V 0.3 − 2.5 V
(2) Turn the steering wheel to the left end from the center value position, and check the values on
the ”TRQ1” and ”TRQ2” of the data monitor.
OK:
TMC made:
TRQ1 TRQ2
0.15 − 2.8 V 0.15 − 2.8 V
TMUK made:
TRQ1 TRQ2
0.3 − 2.5 V 2.5 − 4.7 V
(3) Check the difference of the values between ”TRQ1” and ”TRQ2”.
OK:
Voltage: 0.3 V or less
OK CHECK AND REPLACE POWER STEERING

2 INSPECT POWER STEERING ECU ASSY

(a) Remove the power steering ECU assy with connectors

TRQG (−) TRQV (+) still connected.
(b) Measure the voltage between terminals 1 (TRQV) and 3
(TRQG) of power steering ECU assy connector B.
OK:
TMC made: 7.5 − 8.5 V
TMUK made: 8.5 − 9.5 V

Connector B
