Q5. Breaking a rule

I had been working there for 4 months.
It was a decently big house, with 4 bedrooms. The
neighbourhood was relatively wealthy, in the newer part of the
town. There was nothing suspicious about it.
Right until the moment you talked to its owner.
I was 17 at that time. I had to get a job, so that I could move
from my parents’ house. We weren’t actually that poor, but I
desperately needed the cash and my mom was happy to see
that I was working.
My entire job was to keep the place clean and in liveable
conditions. So I had to go to his place twice a week, burn some
sweat, and come back.
There was 1 rule though. I could never-under no circumstances
could enter the basement of the house.
Often weird smells would come from the basement, but I didn’t
dare try and open it.
But this time, it was different. I was used to the tingly feeling
you get in your stomach when you are curious, but it was a bit
too much. I was home alone.
And, there was a very dim green light coming from the
basement. I had been waiting for an opportunity like this for a
long time, just to see what he was trying to hide from me.
I completed all my work, and then I walked down to the door. It
was padlocked shut, but he had given me all the keys to his
house, so I simply took out the bunch and started to look for the
key that matched the door. I tried numerous keys, and I
ultimately found the right one.
Suddenly, I got the text from him that he was going to be late,
and as my salary was due, he would pay me tomorrow. He told
me to leave as soon as I was done. I replied with an ok.
I was about to open the door, when I started to hear noises
from the room inside. I thought about calling him, but decided to
check for myself first.
I opened the door. I really wish that I didn’t.
It was a huge chamber. Dim green lights lit the whole area.
There was a spare kitchen set in here. There was also a
wooden table next to it. On the floor were many empty
transparent plastic bags. I was slowly starting to realise where I
was now.
“Hello!” I shouted, not expecting a reply.
I walked forward.
Abruptly, I walked into something uneven on the floor.
There it was- to confirm all my suspicions. I found a gram scale
sitting in the bottom.
I was in a meth lab. ‘His’ Meth lab.
Before I could make a move, I got a text on my phone saying “I
told you to go home”. I heard something move closer to me
from behind.
I ran for my life, and within seconds, I was out.
I have never been to the house after that.
