Grade 9 - August 29th- September 12th (lesson plan)

1. The big picture: MONOLOGUES.. Film appreciation, reviewing and preparing a

monologue

2. Objectives: students will watch a few iconic film monologues in class. Then they will
appreciate and review it. They will then write a small review on one of the monologues of
their choice. Objective of this exercise is to give them a clear vision about what should and
should not be done during a monologue which will help them when they prepare a
monologue of their own.

3. Engagement: students will be engaged by the iconic monologues and will be excited when
they will be given monologue scripts to choose from. They will be provided with scripts that
they can choose from and prepare a monologue for the next class.

4. ‘Stickability’: working in a group, relying on your teammates, reacting to actions is far

easier than being a one man show. Every emotion must come from within. Monologue or
ekanki as described in HIndustani theatre is an extensive art form. Students while preparing
for their monologue will go through varied emotions and in a more deeper sense which will
make working in a stage play an easier task.

5. Assessment for Learning: There will be self assessment and a Teacher assessment done
after students perform their monologues.
