Headline: The Story Behind Santa's Secret Reindeer

(December 14, 2017)

For Rick Nogueira, Regional Partnership Leader for the

Immunology Patient Value (iPVU) in New Jersey, his preferred
form of self-expression has always been writing poetry.
Rick had often considered writing a book, but the right
inspiration alluded him. Finally, after years of dressing as Santa
at family holiday parties, it came to him. Rick took note that
over the years, Christmas didn’t seem to capture the
imagination of the children as much as it used to. This got him
thinking and of course writing.
What resulted was the narrative poem Racer: Santa's Secret
Reindeer centered around a reindeer that acts as a scout to make
sure children are asleep when Santa arrives to deliver their presents. Rick’s hope in writing the
book is that it will add back the excitement and wonder of knowing Santa is on his way to
deliver the presents.
Rick also found inspiration to write following the passing of a friend, who had long encouraged
his writing. The Special Olympics has been a major sponsor of the book, as Rick’s late friend did
numerous collaborations with them. Because of this, Rick dedicated the book in her honor and
donates the profits he makes from the sale of the book to The Special Olympics Causes.
Rick also wanted to create more than just a book. Once the story is over it contains six pages for
coloring and it even includes its very own app, which can be set at a specific time to chime on
Christmas Eve letting children and their parents know Racer is near. This opens their
imagination allowing the children and even the parents to get engaged in the Christmas spirt.
Rick has been actively promoting his book including making an appearance on Good Day New
York to read the book aloud to a group of children and he regularly reads the book to schools and
other children’s organizations across the New York and New Jersey region.
To learn more about Rick’s creation it is currently available on Amazon to purchase.
