Have you ever visited Singapore? Well, if you
haven’t, let me tell you about Singapore. Singapore is an
island city. Its population is about three millions people.
Most Singaporeans live in high-rise apartments.
Uhm…Singapore is a beautiful city with lots of parks and

business district is very modern, with lots of tall and new

My extended family went on a picnic to
Happy Land last month. We went there by renting
a medium bus. After everyone had gathered at my
parents’ house, we prayed together and then left
for Happy Land at 7.30.
On our way, we got stuck in a traffic jam
after passing a toll gate in Bogor. It took two
hours to be there, but we did not feel bored at all
as we had many things to talk about and laugh
about. Moreover, the view along the way to
Happy Land was also beautiful.
After we arrived, we took off the bus and
walked around to find a small grassy garden to
spread our mat out. My mother and aunts
prepared the meals to eat together while we put
our bags and stuffs. After finished eating, the
boys proposed to ride flying fox, so we bought
the tickets and waited for our turns.
We were ready to slide when the officer
had finished setting up all of the equipment. I felt
very nervous, but happy at the same time. So did
my cousin. We laughed and screamed giddily.
Suddenly, my mom asked me to
accompany my little brother on a horse ride. He
was a little afraid, but I kept telling him to relax
and enjoy riding and to hold the rope tightly to
control the horse. After we finished, we tried
other rides. We really had a great time.

Once upon a time, there lived a father with his
two beautiful daughters in a village. His wife, the
daughters’ mother, had already died. The father raised
the daughters by himself. He loved them very much.
The father liked hunting very much. He often
went to the forest to hunt deer, rabbit or many kinds
of birds in the forest. But the two girls disliked it.
They didn’t want their father killed animals. The
father tried hard to stop his hobby as the girls wanted.
One day, when the father went around the
village, he met his friends. They talked about many
white birds which came to the lake. They said it was
good time to hunt the birds. The men asked the father
to hunt the birds. The father couldn’t help himself. He
forgot his promise not to hunt anymore. The father
went home to take his gun.
Knowing his father’s plan to go hunting, the
eldest daughter said to her sister that she would wear
long white clothes and go to the lake. She pretended
to be a white bird so that the father would kill her and
would stop hunting. When the eldest daughter went
away wearing long white cloth, the younger daughter
wearing the same clothes, followed her sister.
The two daughters ran away to the lake. The
father who had already been in the lake saw them. He
thought that they were birds. He shot both of them.
How shocked he was, when they cried in pain. He ran
to them, but it was too late, both of his daughters had
already died. The father was shocked. Since then he
never hunted animals.

Earthquake often happens around us. It brings
great damages. Earthquake is hard to be predicted and that
makes lot victims.
Actually there are three kinds of earthquake. These
kinds of earthquake are commonly base on the factor and
geological area where the earthquakes happen. These three
kinds of earthquake are tectonic, volcanic and explosion.
Tectonic earthquake is most common one. This
kind of earthquake happens while earth’s crust rocks break
because of the geological strength created by moving of
the earth’s plates.
Volcanic earthquakes happen exactly with
volcanic activity. Volcanic earthquakes are when the
volcano produces acidic lava, which dries quickly, when it
dries quickly it blocks the top of the volcano. This make no
more magma can escape. Pressure starts to build up and
eventually the acidic lava can no longer stand the pressure.
So the volcano is free to explode, the pressure is released
so fast that an earthquake is caused. A volcanic earthquake
is usually kept within 10-20 miles of the volcano.
Explosion earthquakes are the result of the
collapse earthquakes that are small earthquakes occurring
in underground mines and caverns.

Komodo dragon is a member of the monitor
family, Varanidae. It is the world’s largest living
lizards. It grows to be 10 feet (3 meters) long and
weighs up to 126 kg and belongs to the most ancient
group of lizards still living.
It is found mainly in the island of Komodo and
on other small islands Rinca, Padar, and Flores. The
natives call the dragon, ora, or buaya darat (land
crocodile).
The Komodo dragon has a long heavy tail,
short, strong legs, and rough skin. It is covered with
small dull, colored scales. It can sprint at up 18 km
per hours, but only for short distances. When it opens
its wide red mouth, it shows row of teeth like the edge
of a saw.
Komodo dragons are good swimmers and may
swim the long distance from one island to another.
Like other lizards, they swim by undulating their tails,
and their legs held against their body.
The Komodo dragon is totally carnivorous. It
hunts other animals during the day. It hunts deer, wild
pigs, water buffaloes, and even horses. While smaller
komodo have to be content with eggs, other lizards,
snakes, and rodents. Komodo dragons are cannibals.
The adult will prey on the young one as well as the
old and sick dragons.

Last holiday, my friends and I went to the
beach near from our city. We went early in the
morning and arrived there at 8 a.m. luckily, that day
was sunny. The beach seemed so beautiful under the
blue sunny sky. It was great to feel the sand grains
beneath our feet and the breeze blowing our hair
gently.
At noon, we started to feel hungry, so we
decided to head to the nearest food stall. The fish
looked fresh and there were a lot of seafood menu

We stayed until the sun set because many
people said the view was so outstanding. We took

One day, a man saw a cocoon. He loved
butterflies and had a craze for its wonderful
combination of colors. He knew how a butterfly
would struggle to transform from an ugly caterpillar
into a beautiful one.
He saw the cocoon with a tiny opening. It meant

enjoy the world. He decided to watch how the
butterfly would come out of the cocoon. He was
watching the butterfly struggling to break the shell for
several hours. He spent almost more than 10 hours
with the cocoon and the butterfly. The butterfly had
been struggling very hard for hours to come out
through the tiny opening. Unfortunately, even after
continuous attempts for several hours, there was no
progress. It seemed that the butterfly had tried its best
and could not give any more try.
The man decided to help the butterfly. He got a
pair of scissors and tweaked the cocoon to make
larger opening for the butterfly and removed the
remaining cocoon. The butterfly emerged without any
struggle!
The man was happy that he had made the butterfly
come out of the cocoon without any more struggles.
He continued to watch the butterfly and was quite
eager to see it fly with its beautiful wings. He thought
that at any time, the butterfly might expand its wings,
shrink the body and the wings could support the body.
Unfortunately, the butterfly just crawled around with
withered wings and a huge body. It was never able to
fly. Although the man did it with a good intention, he
did not know that only by going through struggles the
butterfly can emerge to be beautiful, with strong
wings.
