A close colleague of mine was also working with me.

After a few days, I realized that my colleague was

having some problem as his work was not as per his standards. On speaking to him, he told me in
confidence that he was suffering from depression due to personal issue and was finding it difficult to
deliver. He was apprehensive about revealing it to the other team members and wanted me to keep it as
secret.

Being a close friend, I thought it would be wrong to break his confidence. However, as we made progress
in the project, I realized that he was becoming a bottleneck and the entire team had to put in extra
efforts to deliver on time. The project was very demanding and because of the entire situation, the team
was really pushed to its limits.

The ethical dilemma I faced was, whether to breach the confidentiality of my colleague and inform the
manager for the benefit of the entire team and not compromising on the quality of work or maintain my
integrity and not reveal anything as it could further impact his health.
