ABSTRACT

Dr. Sharon Sophia is a highly efficient, innovative, methodical and analytical teacher and

researcher who has an extensive knowledge in field as well as in practice. She has extensive

experience of supporting research and teaching by reviewing, developing and defining present

market related changes and the application of accounting standards.

She has 15 years of teaching experience. Her blend of teaching includes research, analytics and

industry application is her greater credit. All her classes are embedded based that is every lecture

of hers will support a software tool or excel add – in. All the text mining done in modern

software is taught in excel add in shows her intellectually strong knowledge over the subject. She

is one of the most highly demanded faculty in VIT University for Accounting and Finance and

her slot will be always have waiting list. Students of M.Tech, MS by research, MCA and Ph.D

scholars of other department take her support for doing Stock market Modelling which her core

area of research. People from other institutes also visit her for getting Ph.D guidance.

Her teaching of finance and accounting is based on real market segment and industrial

application. Complicated thing made easy is her great strength. All her teachings are based on

Embedded software namely, SPSS, EVIEWS and different EXCEL ADD – INS. She has been

actively involved in corporate training for IT, ITES, Automobile, Telecom and Infrastructure

sector. Executives from TECHNIP, ABN AMRO, RBS, CITI GROUP, E- SERVE, RR
DONNELLEY and MAVERIC were part of this MDP held at LIBA. Prior to joining VIT

University, Chennai Campus she has worked with LIBA and Loyola College. She is the 1st Ph.D

of LIBA (http://liba.edu/course/our-courses/doctoral-programme/doctoral-programme/) and has

produced one Ph.D at VIT. Her current interest includes EVENT STUDY and TIME SERIES

MODELLING IN CROSS BORDER MARKETS. She is the also research Co-ordination for

Ph. D programme at VIT University. She also does interdisciplinary research with M. TECH,

MCA and B. TECH Students as their project guide.

She can relate well with people at all levels and has the flexibility of working well as part of a

team or individually.

She is comfortable working in a fast paced, hands-on, growth orientated work environment and

possessing a proven ability to ensure that standards and communications are understood and

implemented effectively.
