 How did you start in your career as an architect?

How did you end up in the company you are

in--were you requested, did you come as a walk-in applicant, did you search job fairs, job
bulletins, etc?
o 2006 nung pumasa ako then dun na talaga ng start dun sa pinapasukan ko nung di pa ko
licensed. I did not search for job fair,I started my career here through recommendation.

 What do you think are the qualities or the skills that you have in comparison with the other
applicants which won for you a slot in the firm?
o Lahat kasi ng napasukan ko is through recommendation although nag apply ako sa job
fair for 1 month after that kinuha nako as permanent position last 2013.

 What does it take for an architectural firm in this locality to survive the challenges and outdo
both legitimate and illegitimate competitors?
o 6 years nako dito mag 7 years na dito sa architectural firm kase sa private iba kase saka
dito like in a private practice yung supervision mo kase is full time supervison talaga kung
iaallow ka ng boss mo wherein ditto kasemore on planning ako. Sa architectural firm dun
mo matututunan talaga yung how to explore your design kung yung client mo is yung
talagang may pera makakapag explore ka ng design based dun sa gusto din ng client
lalo na pag malaki yung project unlike dito kase is limited tayo pag sa government
although ng aadopt na din ako ng konti sa mga materials na pwedi kong I jive sa
government buildings like gumagamit ako ng materials ng cladding even even noon kase
lagging ginagamit ditto is massive design kase e so medyo ng aadopt nako ng modern
design.

 What common issues or problems are normally encountered by design professionals in

dealing with their clients? Do you think the public is well informed about the scope of the
practice of architecture?
o Lahat kasi ng gusto ng client yun yung susundin mo even na alam mo na maliit yung
spaceexplain to him/her kung mg uup ka ng floor kase kung limited lang yung space mo
like maliit yung space ng lot nya andami nya requirement dun ka mamomroblema ngayon
kung pano po pagkakasya lahat kailangan mo ngayon explain kung magtataas tayong
floor sympre tataas din yung budget. Most probably problem pa is may panggawa silang
bahay then nagkakatalo kayo ngayon sa professional fee. Hindi mo kasi makukuha yung
10% sa bok naten, siguro makukuha nila yung 2% pero pag kinuha mo yung 10% hindi ko
alam kung ibibigay nung client baka hindi mo na talaga makuha yung project.

 Are government codes or laws pertaining to the practice of architecture inclusive or inclined
to uphold the interest of the architect?
o Yes importante yun kase sa LGU yung sa building permit we need to provide 2m setback
sideyard, rearyard and 3m sa frontyard but mostlikely maganda if you can provide 5m at
front kaso nga very limited ngayon yung mga lot naten. Before kayo makapag design sa
subdivision you always need to get a requirement sa subdivision kase may mga height
limits yon then before you can proceede to the construction I chcheck muna nila yon if
sumunod ba kayo sa requirement but same as local government unit laws and sometimes
ayaw nilang nakafirewall yung two sides meron kase silang construction ban sa subdivision
 if di mo kasi masunod yon yung construction ban mona P70,000 wala na forfeit na yon, yun
yung nagttake risk yung owner para lang makuha yung gusto nyang design.

 What is your impression that most municipalities in the country have engineers as Building
Officials rather than architects?
o Oo, kasi nga mas malawak kasi yung sa engineers kasi satin is more on sa aesthetic design
even nakakapag design naman tayo ng structural yung satin kase is basic lang
mapapansin naman sa curriculum naten yung math naten 3 units lang compare sakanila
na 5 units kaya hindi tayo pweding makipag ano dito talaga. Kaya nga yung sa 9266 yung
pumipirma sa architectural is Architect, structural is Civil/ Structural engineers, electrical for
the Electrical Engineers, plumbing is for Sanitary Engineer/ Master Plumber meron na
tayong separation sa pagpirma. Dito kasi sa profession naten mas angat talaga yung
engineers naten lalo na sa building official and wala pa kong nakita na architect sa
building official most is civil engineers.

 How do you personally assert the famous FB post: There is no free design?
o There is no free design in Architecture kase ano tayo e yung pinag aralan naten ng 5 years
marerealize nyo pag you’re professional architect you design na makukuha mo yung
gusto ng client mabibigay mo then bibigyan ka lagn yung gusto nya papaya kaba sag
anon diba. Before you start a project you need to give proposal or quotation for the
professional fee para aleast yung design naten di sya magigin free para based on book
pa din tayo kase pag nalaman nilang ganun lang binayad saten irerecommend ka by
recommendation kasi yan pag nakagawa kang project kailangan parin naten talagang
ibigay yung dapat na fee.
