Women Group “Flor del Campo” History

The group started in 1999, with a membership of 25 women with the purpose of creating in
the community of Capucas a space for women to generate their own income and, in addition,
to make themselves known in the field of coffee, feeling an important part of society as an
opportunity for growth and improvement for their living conditions. In the beginning they
participated in business initiatives such as raising broilers, which ended due to the lack of
electricity in their old facilities, however, they continued to strengthen their coffee
plantations, which survive to this day.

In 2011, they began their legalization process and it is until 2013 when the First Degree
Social Economy Company Certification is obtained through the Ministry of Industry and
Commerce. In 2013 an alliance was made with the Cooperativa Cafetalera Capucas Limitada,
COCAFCAL, the professional roasting team was acquired with which they managed to
increase their sales and it was in the same year that the two brands of coffee one SHG were
launched, and another HG, with the name Café Capuqueño; By improving the profile of the
coffee, it was possible to increase sales with the activities they carry out.

Currently, it has 84 women and thanks to the unconditional support of the Cooperativa
Capucas they have equipment for roasting, grinding and packing coffee, health and brand
registration and, although work has been difficult, thanks to the effort of women every day
group keeps growing and getting more benefits. There have been many entities that have
supported the group with the name of "FLOR DEL CAMPO DE CAPUCAS", among them
the project HEIFER International supported them with a revolving fund.

It has been possible for women to move from being housewives only to small businesswomen
who have an income, before they depended only on what their husband contributed to the
household; currently organized for roasting coffee, have been trained in different areas such
as: costume jewelry, coffee quality, among others making their products, are certified with
the stamp of a woman's hands.
