The Special Reserve of the Biosphere Falls or Waterfall) de Agua Azul, is a
protected area of international recognition. Its waterfalls are formed by the
tributaries of the river Otulún, Shumuljá and Tulijá, forming a shallow canyons with
steep cliffs that give rise to blue and white waterfalls.They Are in the north of the
State of [Chiapas], in the municipality of Tumbalá to 64 km from the city of
Palenque (60 km from Highway 199 to be Ocosingo and 4 km for a diversion of
dirt). The water has that beautiful blue color carbonate salts that are dissolved. The
vegetation is mountain forest, lush in parts covering the river, is common to see
fallen trees petrified.
