Where is located?
It’s one of the six natural regions of Colombia. It is located in the south
of the country, bordering the Andean and Orinoquía regions to the
north, Venezuela to the east, Brazil to the southeast, Peru to the south,
and Ecuador to the southwest.
Leticia is the capital of the Amazon, and is the most important city of all
region, since is the border between Colombia, Brazil and Peru, so being
here you will be able to hear a lot of people speak Portuguese.
It is a city that when you know it you do not want to leave there, it is
incredible the tranquility, peace and energy that being in the middle of
the gigantic Amazon transmits.
The Mundo Amazónico Park: is one of the things that you cannot
miss in Leticia, it’s located at kilometer seven, on the outskirts of
Leticia, and is an amazing place where you can learn a lot about native
and medicinal plants and products, and indigenous traditions. The
Mundo Amazónico Park is a place for the whole family and you can
choose between taking ecological walks with guides, or visiting the
botanical gardens, eco-therapy tours and interactive cultural settings
and much more.
The Tanimboca Natural Reserve: located less than 10 kilometers
from Leticia, is a protected jungle area ideal for ecotourism in Colombia.
In it there is a serpentarium where you will see native species of the
region, you can do different ecological tours, and practice extreme
sports such as canopy and kayak.
Boat Tour: This is definitely one of the most incredible activities you
can do in Leticia; navigate the entire river and delve into the depths of
the Amazon jungle while you contemplate the beautiful landscapes and
watch birds, the famous pink dolphins and lizards among others.
Flor de Loto Nature Reserve: Plant from which the lotus flower is
born, you must go to this natural reserve located 25 minutes from
Leticia. Here you can enjoy all the fauna and flora taking canoe rides
through the park or also hiking.
The Monkeys’ Island
Knowing and touring the Monkeys’ island is one of the most attractive
and favorite activities for tourists, as it involves walking through trails
while learning about the different species of monkeys that live there.
But the most fantastic thing is that these beautiful and curious little
animals pounce on the tourists, which makes the experience incredible,
and if you want to have more contact with them, take out a banana and
feed them.
The Amazonian Man Ethnographic Museum:which has a rich
collection of vessels, oars, bows and arrows used in rituals and
ceremonies and other tasks that allow us to learn more about the life
and culture of the inhabitants of the jungle.
