standard when it comes to work, love and the rest of the society. Atr all ages and in all

notice are their faces and their smiles
FOREIGN LITERATURE
1.) A large literature examines the role of peer effects in shaping student
academic outcomes. This article adds to that literature by introducing a new kind
of peer effect – the effect of classmate physical appearance. We document that
college students are assigned higher grades when in a classroom with peers who
are rated as very attractive. This effect is strongest for female students and
appears to be concentrated among the courses of younger and male instructors.

2.) A number of existing researches have confirmed that physical

appearance is positively related to self-esteem level. Self-esteem exists in
all mankind. Human beings tend to evaluate and examine themselves, and
if they find that they are lacking of something in their physical appearance
they are more likely to take measures to self create something that will
make them feel satisfied and attain a complete self and they do it by
consuming various products (Schouten,
As mentioned if one feels his or her appearance is lacking of something,
they would turn to adornments that would make them look good. Some
believe that wearing beautiful adornments will also enhance their physical
appearance because the adornment is beautiful.

3.) - In today's society human beings truly aren't themselves throughout the day.
Humans go throughout the day performing daily activities such as going to
school, work or going on a date and feel the need to act a certain way. There is a
human instinct that tells the individual to act a certain way and to not truly be
themselves so it is easier to go throughout the day by fitting in much more
appropriately. This thrive to fit in is also known as the thrive to belong. There is
no one correct way to belong into a certain category, class or relationship....

4.) - Appearance in Society Since the beginning of time people all over the world
have been judged based on their appearance. Based solely on the color of their
skin, quality of clothing, body weight, or even hair texture, people experienced
different treatment by the same people experiencing different results. Society has
created a standard for an individual’s appearance. This standard allows society
to believe that the looks of a person should influence their treatment by others.
This standard expectation ultimately corrupts individuals mentally, emotionally
and physically.... [ tags: Human physical appearance, Physical attractiveness]

LOCAL STUDIES
1.) Musings of thirty-six college students from three higher educational institutions in the
Manila, Philippines were used to look at the constructs of physical appeal and its power
to influence leadership. By thematically analyzing the musings ofthe students, the
research found physical appeal concepts that are associated toleadership. The study
revealed that the students perceive leadership in two ways:from “within” the leader such
as skills and knowledge, and from the “outside”where leadership is associated to goals,
to influences, and to authority. In termsof physical appeal, leaders are expected to
possess physical beauty (kagandahanganyo). Moreover, leaders are seen as
individuals who have good manners(kagandahang asal). Interestingly, the college
students claimed that leadershipshould also be based on capacity (kakayanan) and
connection (koneksyon). Thesefindings revealed that leadership has its physical and
ethical forms that help thestudents visualize their idealized national political leader.

FOREIGN STUDIES

1.))Steep growth in appearance anxiety symptoms was found for both girls and boys,
but there was no average change in appearance esteem. Girls had more elevated
appearance anxiety symptoms and lower appearance esteem than boys, girls’ body
mass index was associated with symptoms, and earlier physical maturation and teasing
about appearance, alone and in combination, were associated with growth in
appearance anxiety symptoms for girls and boys. Earlier maturing boys who were highly
teased by parents, but even more so when teased by peers, were at utmost risk for
elevated appearance anxiety symptoms and increasing symptoms over time. In
contrast, all girls exhibited elevated or increasing appearance anxiety symptoms across
time, with the exception of girls with the latest maturation who also reported little teasing
about their appearance.

2.) Behan (2015), though, investigated the effects of social media (i.e., Facebook and
instagram) on Irish female body image satisfaction through the application of qualitative
methodology. Backed by the social comparison theory, she interviewed six 18-25-year-
old Irish females and found out that “the women felt negative body image satisfaction
when viewing images online through Facebook and instagram.” “These negative
feelings were predominantly as a result of upward social comparison engagement”
(Behan, 2015).
3.) A physical appearance is the description of the physical properties of an object. Most
of the time, we judge a person by his /her physical appearance, in fact when we imagine
about a beautiful woman, what all physical properties comes in our mind; slim, beautiful
skin, beautiful eyes and so on. Similarly when we imagine about a bad person or in fact
thief, we think of big body, cruel faces.
Physical appearance is the one factor of any person that influences the environment
very easily. Physical appearance affects the ways; we look at other people and the way
we look at ourselves. Physical appearance is the physical look of any person. It is one
of the most important factors of a personality. This is what people look at you and what
they think about you. Physical appearance has the major impact on society. Physical
appearance is outward or visible aspect of a person or thing ( Smitah Shah, 2012)
4. ) This study examined the accuracy of observers’ impressions on 10 personality traits
based on full-body photographs using criterion measures based on self and peer
reports. When targets’ posture and expression were constrained (standardized
condition), observers’ judgments were accurate for extraversion, self-esteem, and
religiosity. When targets were photographed with a spontaneous pose and facial
expression (spontaneous condition), observers’ judgments were accurate for almost all
of the traits examined. Lens model analyses demonstrated that both static cues (e.g.,
clothing style) and dynamic cues (e.g., facial expression, posture) offered valuable
personality-relevant information.)
