Some Examples of Speech
1. The Role of Islamic Students in Globalization Era
Assalamu’alaikum. wr. Wb
Excelency, Respectable, Honorable
As we know well that globalization is an era marked by missing the territorial
limit of nation. It enables the nation culture interferences. So that, politics,
economy, culture of nation can influence, color and inspire of the other nations
policies.
Globalization gives not only positive effects of the rapid science, information
and technology development but also brings about many religion and culture
principle divergences of the nation. Those become the cause of a drop in
autonomy and identity of the nation.
Happy brothers and sisters!
Let's pay attention more what happens in our surroundings at present! Free
sex, pornography, alcoholic drink and drugs become youth customs in this
country. Most of them always imitate what becomes "up to date" without filtering
and thinking before. And they never make balance between thought and desire,
planning and implementation and between ability and action. In addition, they
do not preserve the Islamic laws because they think that religion is the symbol only
whereas, youth is the generation next of this country. So how this country's future is
if most of them get a drop in their moral values?.
Consequently, we are the next generation of this country; we have to keep
ourselves by faith, beliefs and piety in facing the globalization era. And we have to
be aware of conserving the Islamic laws. Moreover we are the Islamic students
have obligation to fight against the weakness of our beloved nation.v
Moslem brothers and sisters!
We should not keep silent when we know the negative changes that
happen in our society because of globalization era. As Islamic students we ought
to become figures in anticipating the negative effects of this global era.
Ladies and gentlemen, that's all my speech, thank you very much for your
nice attention, forgive me if any mistakes and the last I say.
Wassalamu’alaikurn. Wr. Wb.

speech under the title : “ English”

English Module For English Club Muhamka | 16

People need a language. A language helps people to communicate. Do you
need a language? Of course, everybody needs a language to speak with other
people.

English is one of languages in the world. There are many countries in the world.
Every country has different languages. But they don't need to worry about that.
Because we have an International language, that is English. English makes people
in the world one.

So if you want to be International people, please study English ! Don't be lazy to

study grammar, be diligent to practice your English with your friends and some
English teachers at school.

Dear brothers and sisters,

That’s all my speech. I hope it will be useful for us. Thank you very much. I’m sorry
for doing many mistakes.

Wassalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

4. Formal Education in Indonesia

Assalamu’alaikum Wr.Wb.
Firstly, I would like to say thank you very much for the MC and juries who have
Given me opportunity to deliver this English speech.

Ladies and Gentlemen;

It is a great honor for me to stand here and give a brief speech entitled “Formal
Education in Indonesia”

Brothers and Sisters;

Education system in our country is divided into two major parts, they are formal
and non-formal. A formal education is divided into three levels: primary, secondary
and tertiary education. While non-formal education is carried out for the learners
who get difficulties to meet the requirements in formal education. An example of
non-formal education is PLS (Pendidikan Luar Sekolah). Both formal and non-formal
education aim at establishing the education process in our country.

Ladies and Gentlemen;

As I have stated previously, formal education involves three levels: primary,
secondary and tertiary education. Before entering primary or elementary school,
children in our country usually have attended kindergarten, or known as Taman
Kanak-kanak. But this education is not compulsory for Indonesian citizens, as the
aim of this is just to prepare them for primary school.
Children ages 7–12 attend primary education at Elementary School or Sekolah
Dasar. This level of education is compulsory for all Indonesian citizens. Similar to

English Module For English Club Muhamka | 17

education systems in the U.S. and Australia, students must study for six years to
complete this level.

Some schools offer an accelerated learning program, where students who perform
well can finish elementary school in five years.
The next level is secondary education. After graduating from elementary school,
students attend Middle School or Junior High School (Sekolah Menengah Pertama)
for three years from the age of 13-15. After three years of schooling and
graduation, students may move on to Senior High School. In Indonesia, this school
is basically divided into two kinds:
SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas) and SMK (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan). SMA is
different with SMK in their studies. The students at SMA are prepared to advance to
tertiary education or university, while students of SMK as a vocational school are
prepared to be ready to work after finishing their school without going to
university/college.
The last level of education in our country is tertiary education. Students who have
graduated from senior high school may attend to university or academy. They can
choose any kinds of university or academy based on their interests or scopes of
knowledge, for example majoring in English, Mathematics, or teacher training
university.

Ladies and Gentlemen; Brothers and Sisters;

I think that’s all my speech. I hope my brief description on the formal education in
our country will be useful for us.
Finally, I would like to say sorry if there are mistakes in my speech words.
Thank you very much for your attention.
Wassalamu’alaikum Wr.Wb.

As everybody knows / Muhammadiyah schools were built by the famous

Schools were based on two factors / namely internal factor and external factor.
The Internal factor is / the comprehensive Islamic lesson / taken from al-Qur’an
and habits. //

Meanwhile / the external factors is / a taken from modern science /

The main goal of this kind of education / made by KH. Ahmad Dahlan is to create
people or students / generation of moslem / who is capable of being a good
moslem / and mastering science and technology in this modern era.

method// Even/ it has been applied since the first time until today//
Muhammdiyah schools and universities have been idol and ideal place to study//

Allah said in chapter Ali Imron verse 104:

The honorable judges, master of ceremony, audience and all English speech
competition participants of the Sixth Ahmad Dahlan Olympic 2018.
First of all, let’s pray and thank unto our God Allah SWT, who blessing and

Secondly, may sholawat and salam are always given to the our prophet
Muhammad SAW, that last messenger of God Who guided from the darkness to
the lightnes, from stupidity to the cleverness, from jahiliyah era to the Islamiyah era,
name Islamic realigion.
Thirdly, I’m standing in front of you all, in this occasion I’m about to present
my speech under the topic : Challenges The Muhammadiyah Young Generation
in Millenial Era 4.0. Before I start my speech, allow me to introduce myself, my
name is Murni Asih, I’m from Muhammadiyah vocational school of Kajen
Pekalongan, in the department of Chemistry Analysis.

Happy audience, ladies and gentlemen.

Muhammadiyah Youth / is one of the autonomous organizations under the

Muhammadiyah association// Muhammadiyah Youth/ was born on May 2, 1932/
before Indonesia was proclaimed// Moreover/ the Muhammadiyah organization/
was much earlier/ in its founding in 1912//

As we know/ that the Muhammadiyah youth's vision is / to prepare cadres and the
young generation of Indonesia / to face the challenges of the future more diverse
/ full of dynamics / and various interests /in order to achieve their aims and
objectives//

What Muhammadiyahdiyah aspires / is the Progressive Muslims / who have actually

achieved / after independence of Indonesia// But / that does not mean / the
Muhammadiyah mission is complete / and it is time for Muhammadiyah to
disband// The question is / how does progressive
progressive Islam or Islam Berkemajuan in this
millennial era? What is the difference / between the millennial era and the
previous era?// Can Muhammadiyah answer the challenge of da'wah in this
era?//

English Module For English Club Muhamka | 21

Happy audience, ladies and gentlemen.

In the 46th Tanfidz conference in Yogyakarta/ in the second century

Muhammadiyah reaffirmed / its movement's identity / as a progressive Islamic
movement / or Gerakan Islam Berkemajuan// Progressive Islam to contain the
rahmatan lil 'alamin mission/ existence to bring benefits to all humanity / and the
universe// These benefits include the creation of peace/ justice/ benefit / and
prosperity / among humanity// This is confirmed by the next description/ that
Progressive Islam / advances against violence/ oppression/ terrorism and war//

The big challenge is /how Muhammadiyah's young generation / is able to build a

straight religion/ in the millennial era.// Namely, young people who aged 15-35
years old// They spend most of their time / in front of a smart phone /and watching
videos online//

Technology also makes the internet generation / use social media as a place/ to
get information// Muhammadiyah's young generation is challenged/ to be able to
take advantage / of the shifting behavior of the internet generation / to the
effectiveness of da'wah//. So/ digital da'wah must also be done / so that it is not
only carried out conventionally / but also online through//

Happy audience, ladies and gentlemen.

The next challenge/ for the young generation of Muhammadiyah in the millennial
era is / the change of the era itself// In the past/ KH. Ahmad Dahlan will establish
Muhammadiyah/ he studied to Budi Utomo/ and apply to Muhammadiyah// In
today's context/ of course we also need to follow in his footsteps.

That’s all my speech / that I can present/ I hope the Muhammadiyah young
generation / can answer the challenge of millennial era/ Let’s learn about new
things in this millennial era / by not eliminating our Muhammadiyah identity//
I’m sorry if doing many mistake/ Thanks for your attention.
