Chiranjeevi Yojana
Under the scheme, trust hospital / private gynecologist and obstetrician are enrolled after they are
oriented about the Chiranjeevi scheme. District Health Society signs a MoU with each of them. As
per MoU they have to provide the maternity services to the BPL / tribal (non income-tax paying)
mothers as beneficiaries of the scheme at their nursing homes/hospitals. The Obstetricians were paid
Rs. 1,79,500/- for a package of 100 deliveries (@ Rs. 1795/- per delivery) in past. The package is
revised to Rs 2,80,000 for 100 deliveries wide GR dated 17-8-2010. The package of 100 deliveries
includes normal and complicated deliveries and also cesarean section operations. There is no limit on
number of deliveries conducted by the doctor. Payment will be made for the number of deliveries
conducted by the enrolled doctor.

The above package includes all normal and complicated deliveries (including necessary facilities,
investigation and medication). The beneficiary will have not to bear any type of charges related to
delivery, medicine, anesthesia, laboratory investigations or operation. The package also includes Rs.
200/- for transportation to the pregnant mother. ASHA will be paid separately Rs 200 for bringing for
institutional delivery separately from ASHA incentive fund. 48 hours stay is advised after delivery
and is covered under the scheme.

What is SHP ?

School Health Programme (SHP) is a single, largest time framed health programme operating in the
State of Gujarat since 1997. In 2009-10, SHP will cover ≈1.4 crore children ≈ 25% population of
Gujarat. SHP covers all 26 Districts & 18,568 villages (including 7 Corporations) of the State.

Bal Sakha Scheme


Under this scheme, all babies born to BPL mothers in the State (approximately 3,00,000 births per
annum) will be covered for neonatal care by partnering pediatricians, including care in their Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (level 2 ) at no cost to the beneficiary. After initialization and stabilization of the
Scheme, the Scheme may be extended to cover all infants upto one year age.Up to October -09 284
private pediatricians are enrolled and 31151 new bron attended under Bal Sakha yojana.

Mamta Taruni Abhiyan


Department has initiated Mamta Diwas which is meant to provide a fixed day out reach services to
expecting and lactating mothers. The services are being provided by the Mamta Diwas centers at sub-
centers and anganwadis. A special card is been designed for record and documentation purpose which
includes sections on Antenatal care, Post natal care, growth monitoring etc.

Based on the above three concepts MAMTA TARUNI ABHIYAN is being proposed for adolescents
girls in the age group of 10 to 19 years in rural areas. This is a community level intervention to cater
the need of the above said group.

Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana


In August 2008, Government of Gujarat in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and
Employment, New Delhi, initiated the innovative Social Health Insurance scheme of “Rashtriya
Swasthya Bima Yojana’’ (RSBY) in the State of Gujarat. The Scheme provides Health Insurance to
the BPL families in Gujarat (both Urban & Rural) and offers them protection against the cost of
illness and freedom from the vicious cycle of indebtedness. The scheme covers up to 5 members per
BPL family (head of the family, spouse and 3 dependents). Each of the enrolled BPL families is
provided health insurance coverage of Rs 30,000/‐ per annum, on a family floater basis. The
Insurance Premium is shared in the ratio of 25:75 that is 25% state share and 75% central share.

MA Yojana
A large number of households are pushed into poverty as a result of high costs of household spending
on health care. The Below Poverty Line (BPL) population is especially vulnerable to the catastrophic
health risks. To address this key vulnerability faced by the BPL population in the Gujarat, the State
Government has launched a medical care scheme called Mukhyamantri Amrutum (MA) Yojana. The
objective of the scheme is to improve access of BPL families to quality medical and surgical care for
the treatment of identified diseases involving hospitalization, surgeries and therapies through an
empanelled network of health care providers. The surgeries covered are of ;

Cardiovascular Surgeries

Neurosurgeries

Burns

Poly Trauma

Cancer (Malignancies)

Renal (Kidney)

Neo-natal (newborn) diseases

The total sum assured for the BPL family is of Rs.2,00,000/- per family per annum on family floater
basis. A unit of five members (Head of family, spouse, and three dependents) of BPL family is
covered under MA.

Rs. 300/- per hospitalization with a ceiling of maximum Rs.3,000/- per year will be reimbursed as
transportation cost to the beneficiary.

Janani Suraksha Yojana


Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Rural Health
Mission (NRHM) being implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and neo-natal mortality
by promoting institutional delivery among the poor pregnant women. The Scheme has contributed
immensely in increasing the Institutional deliveries among the BPL, ST and SC population. The
progress of Scheme has been remarkable since inception and is expected to achieve good results in
the years to come.

Flow of JSY benefit

Initially JSY benefit was paid after delivery before discharge of the beneficiaries from health facility.
However, after Hon’ble Supreme Court’s instructions, Rs. 500/- is being paid 8 to 12 weeks before
delivery without any age, parity and place restriction to eligible women and additional benefit (Rs.
200/- for rural area and Rs. 100/- for urban area) are being paid to the beneficiaries after delivery.

As per Office Order No.: FW/MH/Changes in JSY//2013, dated 01/08/2013, JSY benefit of Rs.
700/- in Rural areas and Rs. 600/- in Urban areas are being paid 8 to 12 weeks before delivery and all
JSY benefits are being made through Account payee Cheques or Direct Benefit Transfer.

Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK)


Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) is an initiative of Govt. of India & Govt. of Gujarat to
assure completely free and cashless services to pregnant women including normal deliveries and
caesarean operations and sick Infants (up to 1 year after birth) in Government health institutions.

Free Diet during stay in the health institutions

Free provision of Blood Transfusion

Free transportation service from Home to Health Institutions, between facilities in case of referral
and drop back to home.
