5. Enzymes : biological catalysts composed of protein.

Catalyst : substance that increases the rate of chemical reaction; not changed by the reaction
• Importance : reaction speed necessary to sustain life; too slow → energy < use →
death
• Type: Intracellular (catalase, phosphorylase...) / Extracellular (lipase, amylase…)
• Each specific: one enzyme - one substrate
• Complementary Shape : Enzyme-Substrate Complex = Lock & Key Module
