Nurdin Abdullah

Nurdin Abdullah is the Regent of Bantaeng Regency from 2008 to 2013 and the
period 2013 - 2018. In May 2015 Nurdin received the "Promise of Change" award
from the Republika newspaper along with three other regional officials. On August
15, 2016, he was awarded the Bintang Jasa Utama Honorary Award from
Indonesian President Joko Widodo. This Service Award was awarded to four figures
who were considered to have contributed in the social humanitarian field.

Nurdin was born in 7 February 1963 as the eldest child of six. His father, Andi
Abdullah, was a member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. Her mother
Nuareny Abdullah originated from Soppeng. He claimed that he is a descendant of
the Bantaeng kings - specifically, that his grandfather was the 35th King of Bantaeng

He went to junior high school (Sekolah Menengah Pertama/SMPN) in his hometown


of Parepare, before going to Makassar for his senior high school studies, graduating
in 1986. He continued his education in Hasanuddin University, studying agriculture
and forestry. After obtaining his bachelors, he continued to Kyushu University,
earning his masters and doctorate by 1994

Nurdin Abdullah was born in the city of Parepare, South Sulawesi on February 7,
1963. Nurdin Abdullah was married to Ir. Hj. Liestiaty F. Nurdin, M. Fish on January
11, 1986, and has been blessed with 1 daughter and 2 sons.

Currently, Nurdin and his family live in the Tamalanrea Lecturer Housing, South
Sulawesi. As for the official residence itself, it is located in the Bantaeng Regent's
Official Office on Jalan Gagak, Bantaeng, South Sulawesi.

Prof.DR.Ir.H.M Nurdin Abdullah, M.Agr. is the first regent in Indonesia who is a


professor. He completed his undergraduate study at the Japanese Faculty of
Agriculture and Forestry in 1986 and completed his Masters of Agriculture at Kyushu
University in Japan in 1991. At the same University, he also completed his doctoral
study in Doctorate of Agriculture (1994).

Before working in the political world, Nurdin was known as an Academician who had
held several structural positions at the university and in a company.

He was once a Professor of the Faculty of Forestry at Hasanudin University and also
a Board of Trustees of the Makassar State Polytechnic.In some companies Nurdin
also held strategic positions, namely serving as President Director at PT Maruki
Internasional Indonesia, President Director of Global Seafood Japan, Director of
Kyushu Medical Co. Ltd. Japan.
Nurdin Abdullah is famous for his simple leadership style and his humble and friendly
nature, making him known to be friendly by the public. Besides he has the
determination and perseverance and upholds honesty. This was proven when he led
Bantaeng district thanks to the ideas and efforts made to restructure Bantaeng to be
better despite many obstacles and bad comments coupled with the burden of
thought to convince the community Bantaeng is very difficult to overcome by Nurdin
Abdullah. Thanks to his ideas and ideas and support from the community, Bantaeng
is now a National Healthy District.

Nurdin Abdullah is a regent who is included in the Indonesian Change Figure and the
50-award-winning regent at the same time in his tenure because Nurdin Abdullah
has successfully created Bantaeng as a technology-based Seed Regency. He also
had to revitalize the farmer groups in Bantaeng Regency by ratifying the Statutes
and By-laws of the legal entity farmer groups. Through cross-sector synergy, Nurdin
tried to develop

the Uluere agrotourism area and in his agriculture, Nurdin focused on developing
apple, strawberry, sweet plants organic like potatoes and ornamental plants.
Through its policies, Nurdin did not only focus on agriculture, but he paid the same
attention to the livestock sector in Bantaeng Regency. Through Artificial Insemination
technology, Nurdin issued a policy to improve the quality of cattle. Besides, he also
fully supports the utilization of livestock waste into biogas that can be used as
alternative energy in Bantaeng Regency villages. Since Nurdin served as Bantaeng
Regent, changes in the field of health services were also felt.

He created a 'mobile ambulance' health service that operated for 24 hours. Nurdin
modified the Nissan Elgrand which was a grant from the Japanese government to be
used as an ambulance. The achievement was even heard abroad, such as the
United States. United States Consul General Joaquin Monserrate flew to Bantaeng
at the end of 2014 to see first-hand Nurdin-style economic growth and health
services. Not only that, for 7 years he worked hard to spur economic growth in
Bantaeng Regency and the results did experience growth of 4.7 percent to 9.2
percent, and now Bantaeng is one of the centers of economic growth in South
Sulawesi.
Nurdin Abdullah was also the first regent whose biography was successfully
published on the world's leading site, WIKIPEDIA.

Alasan saya memilih Nurdin Abdullah menjadi panutan saya yaitu Nurdin Abdullah
is that there are so many simple styles and personalities, his humble nature, never
giving up in any difficult conditions, his courage in accepting risks, holding on to
discipline, never lying, because according to him, my success must be accompanied
by honesty.
