ANSI/ISA Calculation Method

To specify options for the ANSI/ISA Calculation Method:

1. In the Fl field, specify the valve recovery coefficient from the manufacturer's literature.
The default value is 0.900.
2. Specify values for one of the following:
o In the Cv field, specify the control valve liquid sizing coefficient.
Note: An unknown valve Cv is a typical situation during the design state, when the control
valve has not been purchased yet. If the valve Cv is unknown, then it can be calculated by
specifying the control valve design mass flow rate, the critical flow factor, the fluid
properties at the valve (the properties specified here depend on the phase of fluid at the
valve), and the Cv selected to the CV calculated ratio.

3. In the Fp field, specify the piping geometry factor to account for the effect of reducers and
expanders. The default value is 1.
4. In the Xt field, specify the terminal pressure drop ratio for gases. The default value is
0.7.

In the Choking Results grid, you can view calculated values for the following;

• Choking in Liquid?
• Choking in Vapor?
