3 Structural Concept

"A System is a series of components combined to attain a desired goal through a

consistent and efficient process. A Structural System is composed of elements to transfer applied

loads to the ground and to maintain spatial integrity"

Steel Framing is the use of Steel members, in a structural frame, as the elements that

transfer the applied loads to the ground. There are many horizontal, vertical, and connection

components that are used with steel.

Steel is the primary material used in most commercial or large construction projects.

Most steel frames are designed to achieve composite action with the concrete floor slab.

The advantages of composite construction' are now well understood in terms of structural

economy, good performance in service, and ease of construction. Coupled with this increase in the

use of steel frames has been a demand for higher quality in the building fabric and services. It is

recognized that the cost of the frame may only be 10 to 15% of the overall building cost, and

therefore decisions on the choice of the structural form are more influenced by the usability and

adaptability of the building to changing requirements.

4.2.2.4 Material Concept

 Designating the materials that will be used in the structures are consist of concrete for walls and

smooth tiles for the flooring, glass panels for windows, stainless steel and natural wood for the

doors and furniture that will be present in the Land Transportation Complex. Paints are more on

light colors with accents of shades of blue. Wall Cladding will be used as accents.

4.2.2.5 Building Design Concept

RESEMBLING A PART OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

The design is to show the strength, fast and reliable service of the proposed Land

Transportation Complex through using unique style in designing and resembling the services

offered in the said project.

The design of a land transportation service facility can have a profound impact on its

quality public service. Irregular geometric architectural advocacies were employed in the totality of

the design solution to manifest the effective function of a Land Transportation Complex as an

Institution built to serve motorists and community highlighting the transcendent transition un design

from common office design to a modern design enhancing its services. This will be achieved by

incorporating combinations of unique style and geometric shapes in the design blended with

lightness in the façade of the buildings.

Accessibility
Sidewalks and footpaths must be provided for the people’s safety to reach the shopping center/structures

for their deals, disabled persons must be in priority for accessibility.

Function

Planning for potential circulation, structures are built to be used, and the purpose is beaten

unless people can go easily and directly from one area to another, and the related areas are close to

each other.

Space
Volume required by activities is considered to determine the area or size needed to

accommodate the users.

Circulation
The structures will be influenced by modern architecture creating a modern tourist destination

that will inspire other buildings. Concrete, steel and glass are the major materials to be used with

some participation of indigenous materials.

Safety and Security.

The designs of all the structures within the vicinity should be in accordance with the Fire Code

of the Philippines.

Aesthetics

building features is reflected in the structures.

Natural Light & Ventilation

 Sufficiently of green covers, plants and trees produce natural ventilation. The orientation also

affects the natural ventilation. Amihan wind from northeast provides cold wind while habagat wind

brings hot air.

Natural Buffer

Adequate natural buffers surrounding are needed to reduce the sounds from within that may

affect the residential zones and vice versa, to reduce vehicular or noise pollution from the major road

that will affect the operation in the site.
