“TEAMBUILDING” IS A WORD THAT TENDS TO APPEAR MORE AND MORE

INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE COMPANY. WHAT IS IT? DO YOU REALLY NEED
IT? HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO WORK IN A TEAM?

The word “team building” literally means "the building of a team" and refers to all those activities aimed at
enhancing the ability to work with other people. They can be educational, experiential, recreational-sports
activities designed for incentive days, courses or training days. The purpose of all these activities is to give
workers an opportunity to get out of the company walls, discover themselves and rediscover themselves in
another context, during experiences capable of activating all those processes underlying a solid and effective
work team: communication and listening, collaboration and orientation towards goals, flexibility and
adaptability, problem solving and decision-making skills, etc.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO WORK IN A TEAM?

Recent analyzes of the labor market clearly state this: in today's working environment we no longer need

hyper-specialized and fragmented knowledge, but hybrid wisdom, intelligence contamination, technical and
humanistic knowledge that come together, discuss and create innovation. The well-known Swedish
furniture company has made team building one of its founding values: to create non-homogeneous work
groups that combine different functions. Diversity is a wealth. Diversified skills allow you to analyze the same
question from different points of view, allowing you to develop multiple ideas in order to find the best
solution. Teamwork expands prospects, broadens visions. For this to happen, it is necessary to promote
knowledge and mutual respect, the ability to solve problems and find solutions in groups, the enhancement
of individual resources, the ability to manage emotions and stress, etc.

WHAT IS THE SECRET OF A GOOD TEAM BUILDING?

A well-built team building must have a specific goal for instance:

 Promoting knowledge among employees

 Promoting communication and collaboration
 Promoting reflections on the meaning of change, flexibility and the ability to adapt to a constantly
changing labor market
 Enhancing the ability to manage stress

A well-constructed teambuilding must bring participants into a different context from that of the company,
an environment that can help them take off the "masks" of their daily routine and make new experiences
of collaboration, listening and mutual help.

A well-constructed teambuilding, in my opinion, must include a time of debriefing or, even better, a
subsequent follow-up to ensure that what was activated during the team working experience is then
effectively brought within the company walls and can be the fuse that triggers a process of change.

A well-built team, even in the form of a pure incentive and a day of fun, must arouse positive emotions,
capable of making the experience memorable, easily remembered and therefore more capable of moving a
change.

According to many managers, teambuilding is one of the best investments a company can make. Investing
in human resources, creating calm and proactive business climates, working in a team is one of the most
serious and important choices a company can make today.
