DESCRIPTION:
It is said that Chand Bibi was a great horse
rider and a fine polo players she was one of
the great historic Indian women who fought
battle with Mughal force of Emperor akbar
she was the sister of Nizam 1 of
Ahmednagar and a widow of ali adil shah
the sultan of Bijapur.
This painting chand Bibi and her
companion are shown playing polo against
a green background the princess is mounted
on beautifully decorated horses of white
black dark brown and pale-yellow colours
horses are shown sturdy and with
decorated with uplifted foot of horses
showing a dynamic movement. The
colourful customs and jewel covered head
dresses of all princes printed delicate. The
dresses comprise of transparent gagra in
the foreground there is slivery grey lotus
lake with aquatic birds and background has
receding plane depicting rock, hut, tree and
hills ground is even line of rocks with some
greenery, sand and few white buildings in
between up part of painting.
Chand Bibi is riding the white horse and
her companion are riding other horses. All
faces beautiful and in profile with big open
eyes and well-defined feature sharp pose
full lips softly curving chin. The interest of
artist for famine beauty ideals has resulting
in almost all faces looking identical. one
lady is standing in the middle of painting
directing the fame her hands are extended
sideways the ball in white colours 2players
pauses the ball with polo sticks following
across on the centre of painting. Persian
delicacy can be seen in the Vorder
illustrated above and below pale green
yellow brown and blue colour has been in
background where as figure and horses in
bright and colourful. Scene is also shown in
yellow colour in deep between sky light
shading in all area give three dimension to
the all composition a scene of depth is
successfully achieved with receding
landscape from mounts in the fronts of
rocky line leading toward blue sky.
