Trauma Marks on the Bones

Here are images of some the bones photographed by the forensic anthropologist. The trauma
seen on all four long bones appeared similar and examples from two of the bones are seen here.

Also shown is the antemortem trauma to one of the ribs and the possible perimortem trauma to
left rib 5.

Your Task:

In your notes draw a diagram of:

1. The close up images of the cut marks on the long bones (humerus and femur)
2. The cut mark on the rib (left rib 5)
3. The location of antemortem fracturing on rib (right rib 4)

Label all of the features that you can see such as breakaway spurs, striation marks, hesitation
marks or callus formation that you learned about in the videos.

Remember to record what you see like this in your notes!
