NARRATIVE REPORT
GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT 2017

1st day.
August 20, 2017 at exactly 7:00 a.m., the teaching staff of Berseba and Calaitan
National High School departed from Bayugan City for its annual activity: Gender and
Development. This year, the said activity was held at Cagwait, Surigao del Sur with the
topics of ‘Coping with Stress’ and ‘Work Ethics’.
We arrived at the venue at around 9:30 a.m. At first, we were hesitant about the
venue because it was already crowded with people. Second, the tokens are noisy and
our discussion will not be heard if we pursue to follow the program. And so, everyone
decided to take a lunch first and at 2:00 o’clock, we will go with the team building and
the discussion will be done together with the socials.

Foods are prepared with everyone’s help. And after eating, teachers went to their
rooms to take a short nap.

BNHS teachers are tasked to prepare the games for the team building. The games
are as follows: Walk like a duck, Calamansi Bridge Relay, Tallest Tower, Pingpong Ball
Relay and Fill the Pail. The participants of the games are the three teams from the two
participating schools.

And let the game commence!

Cooperation and team efforts are obvious and evident as each of the teams were
competitive. They never let a single calamansi to fall, a single pingpong ball to miss the
spoon.

After the tiring but enjoying games, the team three was announced as the winning
team!

7:00 p.m., dinner was served and the appetite has been filled. This time, the
surrounding was already peaceful and so we go with the program.

The discussion was very informative and clearly, the teachers from the two schools
has learned a lot.
 It was already 10 in the evening when the social night has started. Others went to
bed already, others socialized.

2nd day.
Rock Island here we go!
We departed from Cagwait at an early hour of 7:00 a.m. to travel and experience
an adventure of a lifetime at Rock Island.

It was a long time of travel and alas! We have finally arrived at Hinatuan, Surigao
Del Sur where we need to ride a boat going to the island. Every teacher paid 100 pesos
for the fare going to the island back and forth.

When we arrived, the smile that almost reach our ears are slowly turning into a
straight lined smile. The view we expected to see are not the same on what we just saw.
It was already low tide and it is really impossible for us to enjoy the beach. And so,
everyone decided to just eat our lunch first and go with an alternative plan.

The plan is, continue the adventure in the cold spring of Libuacan. And so the
happiness continues.

After swimming in the cold spring, teachers went home tired but with smiles on
their faces, memories in their heads, and friends in their hearts.
