ESSAY PREVIEW

Stepping outside, I instantly notice the fresh, wet scent of earth. As I continue walking, I willingly
allow the sprinkling droplets to envelop my entire body. My shoes are soon soaked; with each step I
take, I feel a puddle of water move beneath my feet. The rain hurls itself violently on the dark,
slippery pavement. My hair is dripping with ice-cold raindrops which plummet to the earth with
every movement I make. The numbing effect of the icy downpour is finally setting in. Fierce thunder
clouds sneak into the murderous sky and flashing lightning strikes begin. The rain falls faster and
heavier. My feet move quickly as I run down the road. I rush into my house and proceed to stare out
the window and observe the vicious storm that is only beginning. The weather has the uncanny
ability to promptly change a mood. Rain holds several emotions that could be considered polar
opposites; they range from cleansing to depression, love to anger, and life to death.

The clean, crystal-clear droplets carelessly fall to the earth. Small puddles are beginning to form and
children are running outside to play. As a child, I loved to play in the rain. I longed for the feeling of
cleanliness I got from playing in the cold, fresh water. Water is an essential part of the cleaning
process. Rain washes away the layers of filth that grow over time. Without rain, everything outside
would always be covered in dust. Just as rain cleans off the dirt that has been gathered, tears clean
the surface of the eyeball. This makes it so that the eyeball stays moist and useable. Rain falls
directly from the sky or the heavens, and is often declared to be tear drops of the gods. The gods are
powerful supernatural beings; they are the ideal models of perfection.

Playing in the Rain

My brother, sister and I love rainy days. We enjoy playing in the rain very much. There is a very
shallow stream near our house. Each time it rains, we go there to sail our paper boats and watch
them being swept away. The rain makes the water in the stream deeper and it is exciting to watch
the swift currents flow over the stones, carrying away leaves, grass and other refuse from our
garden. We watch intently as our paper boats are tossed about in the water. They then sail swiftly
down the stream and we often wonder where they finally end up.

During the rain, we also love to sit and watch the puddles of water in our garden. As pools of water
are formed, our ducks start splashing about in them, quacking noisily.

Sometimes, we run out in the rain, throw stones into the puddles of water and watch the ripples of
water growing bigger and bigger. The water looks like rings of silver as the shining raindrops fall onto
its surface.

I think the rain is better than the burning heat of the sun. Once in a while, we enjoy ourselves
playing ball games in the rain. It is fun, provided we do not catch a cold or a chill. I like playing in the
rain when there is no thunder or lightning.

My Experience on A Rainy Day

My Experience on A Rainy Day gives me sweet memories. Rains are blessings. Rains are a curse. If we
could control rains and bring them on wherever we are in need or keep them off as long as we
desires them, of course rains would be a blessing. But as it is, elements of nature are not under
human control sometimes not to our liking. There was a day when it rained and I did not like it.

It was a holiday and I had planned to enjoy the day. I was to pay a visit to my sister at Thriuttani
which is at a distance of 75 kilometers form my place. Early that morning I started from house.

Even at that hour I could see bad weather ahead. Dark, smoky clouds threatened rain. I thought I
would be safe if I got into a bus. As! It was in vain.

I was getting into the blue when it started raining and it’s rained the way it has never rained. Within
a few minutes anyone was drenched to the skin. None got the time to get a shelter. In a very short
time the roads were flooded. The traffic came to a standstill.

Visibility was reduced to a few meters. It poured so heavily that even there headlights of the bus
could not pierce the thick sheet of water pouring form the sky. Water collected more speedily than it
went down the drains.

The stalls and the temporary structures for the shops at the bus stop dripped. Those inside the shops
and buses were in no way better than those outside on the road who were getting wet in utter
helplessness. It soon became worse.

The stools, benches, chairs and small tables kept for customers outside the shops and stalls began to
float in the rising streams of rain water. It was a pity to see people running after their articles.
A man running to catch a bench fell into a drain. He might have been swept away by the strong
current but the water itself threw him out. The poor man stood for a moment looking dazed at the
rushing water.

It rained for four hours during which period all activities came to a standstill. When at last the rain
stopped, I was hardly in shape to carry on my journey. There was hardly any time left for the return
trip.

Moreover, I left home sick and longed to be at home in my comfortable bed. Hence I came home.

370 Words Short Essay on A Rainy Day

It was Sunday and I decided to visit one of my friends. Even during the early hours of the day it was
warm. There was no sign of rain as the day temperature was well above 40°C. I had hardly covered
half the distance to my friend’s house on my cycle when surprisingly, I noticed a sudden change in
the weather.

Just out-of-now here clouds covered the sky and the bright day turned to a cool evening. Within few
seconds there were big drops of rain followed by a thick shower. This unexpected change in the
weather created confusion as people ran here and there to take shelter. People at the bus stop
moved closely under the shed.

Shops were full of surprised people. I was so overjoyed that I continued to move on and let myself
get wet completely. I saw people standing out in the balcony or roof top of their houses thoroughly
enjoying the showers. Children moved out on the streets almost shrieking in laughter. They sailed
their paper boats in the flowing rain water. All the dirt from plants and trees was washed off.

The grass and leaves on the plants and trees which looked withered in the heat of the summer
shone with new life. The wet houses looked as if freshly painted. A few birds sat on the electricity
and telephone wires chirruping and preening their feathers. In whole, nature had adorned itself with
fresh beauty.

Rains can be troublesome too! I realised this when I saw all the roads, streets and lanes covered with
mud. Water collected in holes and small pools of water appeared everywhere. I did not stop
anywhere. On reaching my friend’s house I found him hanging out on the roof.

He shouted happily when he saw me. I joined him and we both laughed at each other’s condition.
After some time his mother called us inside and served some delicious snacks. We did not stay
indoors for long. We were back on the roof playing and splashing the rain water.
