0 GENERAL INFORMATION

This Erection Method Statement applies to the Erection Work of the Structural Steel Framing for
the Proposed Purefoods-Hormel Meat Processing Expansion Project located at Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Priority consideration will be the quality work standard that complies with the strict safety
requirements.

2.0 PLANS and DRAWINGS

- Complete Erection Plans and Fabrication Drawings must be available prior to work execution.
- Study and review the plans.

3.0 WORK EXECUTION PROCESS

3.1 Receiving of Materials

- The staging area for the unloading of the delivered fabrication materials is limited only on the
access along gridline A, due to inaccessibility of gridline W. (See Figure 1)
- Unloaded fabrication materials must be sorted out and arranged closed to the design erection
point.

3.2 Sequence of Erection

- Erection of frames will start from gridline W and will end up to gridline A. (See Figure 1)

4.0 ERECTION WORK (PHASE 1)

4.1 General Principle

- Be sure that complete Erection drawing were issued prior to erection work.
- First braced bay must be completed with the required struts, bracings, purlins, sag rods and all
connection bolts must be completed and tightened to ensure its stability place for the next
structure connections.

5.0 ERECTION OF MAIN FRAME

5.1 Erection of Column for braced bay at Gridlines V to U and Gridlines 39 to 46

5.1.1 Preparation

- Check true gridlines and correct elevation of anchor bolts, provide shim plates as leveling
plates for column base plate. Set leveling nuts to its required elevation. (See Figure 2)
- Assemble four sets of two tiers steel columns with each set located closed to its design
position.
- Anchor the safety cage/basket at the topmost portion of the column as well as
temporary safety ladder anchored to its full length. This will serve as safety platform and
access during the erection of the rafters.
- Check lifting weight, crane position and the working radius capacity of the crane prior to
lifting.
5.1.2 Erection of four sets spliced steel columns (See Figure 3)

- Lift column and move slowly to its design position.

- Slowly move down column to fit the bolt holes of baseplate into the anchor bolts.
- Tighten anchor bolts nuts until column is in right position and plumbed.
-Temporary guy ropes will be provided as temporary support and to keep columns
position.
- Provide temporary guy rope as support to keep the column in position.

5.2 Erection of Rafter for braced bay at gridline V and gridline U

5.2.1 Preparation

- Assemble full length of the rafter for gridline V and gridline U closed to its design position
respectively. Tighten to snug fit all bolt connection.
- Install temporary pipe/angle pole with nylon rope lifeline into assembled rafter. This will
serve as safety lifeline during the installation of purlins, sag rods and braces. Check the
stability of this lifeline.
- Check lifting weight, crane position and working radius capacity of the crane prior to
lifting.

5.2.2 Erection Work (See Figure 4)

- Slowly lift the spliced rafter for gridline V.

- The Erectors at ground will control the movement of the rafter to right position in
coordination with the crane using the nylon rope tied at the tip of the rafter.
- Erectors at the safety basket anchored to column will fit the rafter and will provide the
complete bolts. Tighten all bolts to snug fit.
- Provide temporary guy rope as support to keep the rafter in position.
- Erect the next full-length rafter at gridline U using the same procedure.
- Release rig only until at least quarter of purlins and sag rods are installed.
- Braced bay frame must be temporarily aligned and plumb before complete installation
of purlins, sag rods and bracings to avoid difficulties during final alignment.

Note: Spreader bar (12.0m in length) will be use during erection of rafter.

5.3 Braced Bay Erection

5.3.1 After completion of the first braced bay, all components such as box struts, braces
etc. of this bay must be completed and all bolts tightened in preparation for the erection
of the next frames.

5.3.2 Resume erection for the remaining frames using the same procedure with that of
first braced bay up to the last bay.

5.4 Erection of Mezzanine Floor

- Simultaneously, a separate Erection Crew will start with the erection of the interior steel columns
and mezzanine steel framing at first braced bay using the same procedure.
- Erection work will proceed on the next successive bays.

5.5 Erection of End Walls

- After completing all main frames, the end wall framing will be erected using the same procedure
on the previous frames. Follow details from standard erection drawings. Tighten all bolts to snug
fit.

BOLT TIGHTENING
Bolts will be tightened by method of TURN OF NUT or TORQUE WRENCH.

6.1 Turn of Nut

- A method of tightening bolts in a connection. A rotation of the nut through 1/2 to 3/4 turn
beyond a "snug" position that will provide at least the desired minimum tension on the bolt.
("snug" is defined as the point at which the material between the bolt head and the nut is rigid. If
power tools are used, "snug" would be the point at which the wrench begins to impact).

6.2 Torque Wrench

- A wrench containing an adjustable mechanism for measuring and controlling the amount of
torque of turning force to be exerted and used to tighten nuts on high strength bolts as shown on
the following table.
