The Journey

How many times have you heard a child wishing to be an adult, and an adult wishing to be a

child? But is it really better to be an adult or a child? Well, in fact, we can’t assume that either

childhood or adulthood is superior. What we can assume is that there are plenty advantages and

disadvantages to being either.

One of the most significant changes between childhood and adulthood is the number of

responsibilities that you acquire through the years, but that’s not bad at all. Let me explain my

point: A child doesn’t worry about responsibilities, consequently that makes him kind of

immature, so a kid doesn’t have the potential to solve problems, but off course without

responsibilities, a child has almost no problems, and when you grow up, you will have more

responsibilities, so you will mature, but in exchange of that you will have more problems to

solve. That's it in both cases you win and lose.

Another thing I find funny in growing up is: While more freedom you get, less time you have.

For example a kid has a lot of time to do funny stuffs, but you are limited, either by your parents

or because you don’t have enough money, or both. When you are an adult, you have the money,

you don’t need permission, but you just don’t have the time, maybe because you have to work or

you have other responsibilities.

The last thing I would like to compare is how we enjoy life through the years. For example if I

give my niece ( who is one month old ) a simple object like a pen, she can plays with it a whole

day, so when we are kids we found fun in almost everything, because in that age we aren’t allow

to do a lot of things, so we need to be happy with what we have. On the contrary an adult needs

more sophisticated things to have fun, but an adult can do a lot more things than a kid, so again

both sides have their pros and cons.

In conclusion, I can’t say what is better. What I can say is that we need to be happy with our

lives, it doesn’t matter if you are a child or an adult, just to be happy and enjoy every day, so one

day yoy could say I had an awesome childhood and adulthood.
