Topic 1. Parents are too permissive with their children nowadays.

In educating the children, there are several parents who choose permissive treatment toward
their offspring. In my opinion, I partly agree with this statement because This is not a good
parenting style and it has a range of negative long-term outcomes.

On the one hand, parents are not too strict with their children due to the fact that when the
young become mature, they tend to be more independent and eager to explore the world.
Moreover, when there are fewer limits, children can experiment with all sorts of passions
and hobbies.

On the other hand, I believe that nowadays, parents are always severe with their children
from an early age because they realize that the children in a lenient family are likely to grow
up with several negative personality traits. The first and most danger is that these children
will A second negative trait in such people could be impulsiveness. A person who has never
lived with any boundaries is likely to lack the patience to carefully consider options before
making decisions.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that parents should help their children to develop self-
control and respect for others, don't indulge children so much in order to avoid several
unforeseen consequences.

Topic 2. Household duties should be equally divided.

Some people think that household chores should be shared equally among men and women
as they now both work full time. Personally, I completely agree with this statement as doing
housework is the responsibility of every family member

The primary reason is that sharing the household responsibilities between couples will help
to eliminate gender inequality. it is evident that female workers are capable of performing as
competently as males in terms of professional aspects. Therefore, the household tasks should
not be exclusively delegated to women.

Another reason is that children from families where housework is divided equally among
their fathers and mothers tend to be more responsible and successful. Sharing housework
will convey a crucial message to their offspring: “sharing is caring” so children will learn the
importance of empathy and develop valuable soft skills.

In conclusion, I support that equal division of household obligations will create a healthy
family environment and strengthen bonding among family members.
1
Topic 3. Parent can no longer control what their children do

Parents' controls over their children are more likely to be weakened today as technology
advances.I completely agree with this idea and will explain my view on the issue in detail
below.

The first factor that influences my perspective is that children are accustomed to spending
the majority of their spare time watching television and movies. As a result, they are more
influenced by the media than by their parents.

Another reason is that children spend a significant amount of time at school with their
friends and teachers. They learn from one another more quickly than their parents because
they are the same age and can understand each other better.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that children are more influenced by televisions, movies, and
other media, and that parents lose control over them.

Topic 4. Parents still exercise a greater influence over their children than anyone or
anything else.

Many people believe that parents still have more influence over their children than anyone or
anything else, and that they have not lost control over them. Personally, I completely agree
with this statement.

To be gin with, parents have complete control over what their children see and do. When
parents have more control over what their children watch and do, they can have a huge
influence on their children.

Furthermore, children frequently regard their parents as significant influences in their lives.
When children observe their parents performing a task, they automatically assume that it is
correct behavior. As a result, parents must serve as better role models for their children.

In conclusion, although other factors can have an impact, I strong belive that parents are still
the most important role models in their children's lives.

Topic 5. many children suffer because they do not get as much attention from their
parents as children did in the past.

2
Nowadays, people live a very fast-paced life so some people say that many children suffer
because they do not get as much attention from their parents as children did in the past. I
firmly believe this view is correct and will discuss the reasons why in this essay.

To begin with, both parents work full-time and thus have limited time at home. When a
couple's life is hectic and they don't have enough time to spend on family matters. So, the
younger members of the family do not receive love, affection, or consideration from their
elder.

Moreover, most of the time the child is left alone, either with a housemaid or a babysitter
instead of grandparents or relatives, so they do not receive parental guidance or affectionate
nurturing.

In conclusion , I strong belive that parents should prioritize their children's needs over their
own. It is an important part of a child's life.

Topic 6. children must help to do housework,

People believe that children must help to do housework, due to the responsibility that they
might earn and school themselves to work in a group. I totally agree with the rubric above
and it will be proven in the following essay.

The reason why children should learn how to do household tasks is that it will become
extremely useful to them in the future. In fact, it will prepare children for adult life.
Furthermore, the fact that children can contribute to household tasks is a concrete help for
their parents and a reason for pride.

Parents should firstly teach their children to complete easy tasks such as removing dust or
washing their toys. Secondly, children could give some help with gardening or take care of
pets, which are tasks that require interest and more attention. Finally, young boys and girls
could use the hoover or the dishwasher.

In conclusion, I belive that children should help their parents with household tasks . It helps
them to grow into independent, self-confident, and attentive persons who respect their
parents.

Topic 7. having elderly people in the family home is more benefical.

3
Many people believe that having elderly people in the family home is more benefical.
Personally, I believe that there are some drawbacks which is unavoidable when having older
people living together.

On the one hand, the elderly people are usually considered experienced ones in solving the
problems. These people would accumulate much knowledge from what they had overcome
throughout their long lifetime. Therefore, living with older people encourage younger
generations to obtain more lessons in order to develop their essential social skills such as
communication.

On the other hand, people may also have some problems living with the elderly. They
usually have a great deal of health problems and mental illnesses but these diseases can
seldom be cured. People, however, are possibly unable to expend enough things to fulfill the
demand since they must concern about other matters in their life.

In conclusion, I strongly support that living with the elderly may be not comfortable to some
aspects.

Topic 8.The extended family is less important than it was in the past.

Nowadays, The extended family is less important than it was in the past. I agree with this
idea. There are several reason why the extended family is not vital anymore.

First, people now are more focused on their partners, parents, friends, and siblings. This is
because we have busier lives, so the little free time we have must be spent wisely with the
most important people.

Second, family members are fewer than in the past Thanks to the improvement in family
planning and the invention of contraception methods, many people do not have uncles or
cousins, and if they have, it is common that their extended family live far away or that they
do not have much communication between them.

In conclusion, I strong belive that the extended family has become less important because
we spend more time with the people who are near us, we are focused on other activities, and
because families are less numerous.

Topic 10.several people argue that earning money is more important than an enjoyable
job

4
Several people argue that earning money is more important than an enjoyable job.I partly
disagree with this statement and it will be proven in the following essay.

On the one hand, it is true that in a way, money leads to a better life quality. With more
money we can, for instance, consume more, buy good quality products, go on holidays and
do numerous activities. All these things contribute to a more enjoyable life.

On the other hand, although money is a way to reach happiness, it may be not enough. It is
not by chance that nowadays people are seeking a job that fit their interests. In some cases,
some decide to quit their job, even well paid, because they evolve in an environment they do
not like. This is well the proof that money cannot satisfy all our needs.

In conclusion, I personally think that even though money can help to have a better life, it
cannot completely lead to happiness.
Topic 11. Find work at early in lives and keep to it

It is often said that being loyal to one organization could stay in satisfaction rather than job
hopping. I totally agree with this view, now it will be discussed.

Firstly, people can gain promotion prospects easily. That is because the employee would
enhance work skills more professionally and effectively. As a result, they feel less pressure
to perform and complete assigned tasks quickly.

Secondly, no job could put everyone under intense pressure in their livelihood. Hence,
having the same job for a long time would dispel concern about employment problems. That
creates a good spirit to accomplish duties .

In conclusion, I strongly believe pursuing a lifelong career is the more priority choice than
job hopping to keep comfortable and happy in work.

Topic 12.Nowadays, many people take the option to change jobs, while others prefer
not to.

In the modern workplace, there is no longer the attitude that ‘a job is for life’. Nowadays,
many people take the option to change jobs, while others prefer not to. In my essay, I will
explore the good and bad points of the above attitudes.

On the one hand, One of the main benefit of not changing occupation is that one is able to
gain a lot of experience and expertise in his specific profession, thus enhancing job security.

5
Furthermore, those who often change jobs may be seen as unreliable, lacking in experience
and employers might be reluctant to hire and invest training in them.

However, there are arguments in favour of changing job frequently.First a worker improves
his employability. Working in several different jobs often means that the individual has more
skills. Such people are seen as more dynamic and versatile. Second, one never gets stuck in a
rut. Increased wages and promotion are often easier to attain by changing jobs.

In my opinion, I feel that changing jobs every once in a while is of more benefit.

Topic 13.people to work alongside of others.

Some people prefer to be alone, especially when they are working. Personally, I do not agree
with this idea as humans need to have contact with others in their places of employment in
order to be as productive as possible.

To begin with, doing projects alone can be time-consuming, so it is often better to

collaborate with one's coworkers. This will ensure that the chances of failure decrease. Also,
they are able to catch others' mistakes, so the work is as error-free as possible.

Moreover, There is a greater possibility of improving one's work situation by working

together with a group of people. People can get promoted faster or make better connections
if they have more coworkers. And when they work alone, it will not.

To sum up, I stronly believe that working with others makes many positive results.

Topic 14.teamwork

Obviously, every person heas their own attitudes, some likes to work quite and alone, other
likes to work on a team. However, I prefer to work with group of people on a team, because
I like to cooperate and compete with others to make success work.

The first and the most reason are sharing information and exchange the knowledge. Work on
a team makes cooperation and competition between the employs and that leads to make
success work. Moreover work on team makes many friends, and makes their relationship
stronger.

Another reason is to have fun and to enjoy work time. If you work alone you will feel
boring, so you can enjoy your time with others and that makes the time go fast.

6
In conclusion, I believe that to work on team has more advantages than to work alone
because that makes people happy, have more friends get more knowledge.

Topic 15.Television is doing harm

Television, one of the most popular and used media.Although it is an important medium of
entertainment and knowledge, I believe that their inappropriate use can be dangerous.

First, several channels show a lot of advertising during its daily broadcastings. This can
incite negative consumption habits and materialistic behaviors. Second, to spend too much
time in front of the TV sets can be the cause of health problems like visual and muscular
disorders.

However a correct use of television has many positive things. TV informs; people hear what
happen in the world much more on the news than no other medium. Besides, fortunately
there are still very interesting, appealing and educational programs on TV.

In conclusion, even though the television can influence negatively on our physical and
metal, I believe that if we use it controlly, it will bring many benefit for our.

Topic 16. Sport program on Tv

Live sports coverage on television is very popular nowadays in a number of countries. many
people think that this might be the reason why the youngsters do not participate in outdoor
games themselves, however, I partly disagree with this opinion

First of all, sport is the most important thing in everyday life. The game has appeared from
an early age when our ancestors did not have buildings. It is continuing to broadcast on the
TV, and because of this, some people believe that the broadcast games can have a negative
influence on young people.

On the other hand, exercises and activities are significant for all ages of the group. We must
do everyday exercise if we want to live a long life and be healthy in old age. I believe that
transmitted sports programmes help to attract a new generation.

In conclusion, coverage of sports on television has a more positive effect on the young
generation than negative.

Topic 17. Celebrities definitely have more of a global presence and influence on young
people’s lives
7
Celebrities definitely have more of a global presence and influence on young people’s lives
today than in previous years. Since that, I believe they are responsible for setting a good
example for their fans, especially for young ones.

To begin with, the beautiful images and soul of personalities give the inspiration for others
to follow. For instance, Dicaprio, who is a famous movie star, has just released a film about
protecting the environment. This might lead his fans to take action to make the Earth better
and clearer.

Furthermore, in the light of the fact that teenagers are very impressionable, any
inappropriate behavior from their idols might be imitated. Therefore, the idols’ behavior
influences other ordinary people, especially blindly following ones without thinking.

In conclusion, it is true that people in the limelight play a crucial role for the purpose of
shaping the other’s character by their good behavior.

Topic 19. media have effects on people's lifestyle,

Many people believe that the media have no effect on people's lifestyle, while others
advocate the powerful influences of mass media in our lives. I personally agree with the
latter view because of two main reasons which are elucidated below.

First of all, mass media have a profound impact on cultures. It causes the elimination of the
boundaries of cultures among people and creates globalization.

Secondly, mass media are a source of information. It informed people about daily events or
new discoveries. This information sometimes is used to change people's opinion.

In conclusion, as I mentioned above, the influence of mass media is undeniable, and it can
change our beliefs and our ideas.

Topic 20. Many people enjoy watching a live event broadcast on TV. However, I agree
with the idea that it is more interesting

Many people enjoy watching a event broadcast on TV. However, I agree with the idea that it
is more interesting and exciting to go to live events than watching a broadcast version on
TV.

8
On the one hand, there are many reasons why many people prefer a live performance
broadcast on TV. They might find it difficult to enjoy the performance if they are afraid of
the so-called unpleasant environment or the risk of injury when being in crowded places. In
addition, those watching TV broadcast events are likely to see more parts of a show more
clearly thanks to the intention of the TV director and movements of cameramen

On the other hand, people who think watching events on TV is more enjoyable might ignore
a sense of participation and interaction given by attending a live performance. Firstly, the
atmosphere in the auditorium evokes excitement and amusement that attendees could not
experience if watching at home. Secondly, it is a chance to interact with the performers and
show our appreciation.

In conclusion, although Some people might find contentment in watching a broadcast event
on TV, but I am delighted to attend events in a live show.

Topic 21.radio

With the advent of other forms of mass media, some people perceive that radio is on the
verge of extinction in the future if it does not undergo any significant change. In my opinion
however, the radio will stand the test of time.

One of the main reasons why radio would not become obsolete soon is that Radio is installed
in cars and listening while driving is a good idea for taking full advantage of their time and
obtaining the latest information, such as news, weather forecast, society, and so forth.

Another obvious advantage is that the radio set is portable and convenient. On occasions
where people cannot watch TV, read the newspaper or surf the internet, they can resort to the
radio. There are many other electronic devices, such as mp3 and mp4 players, which help
people enjoy various entertainment programs at their convenience.

In conclusion, I believe that radio broadcasting will continue to account for a very
substantial segment of the mass media market.

Topic 22. Examinations exert a pernicious influence on education.

People believe examinations will have a negative impact on education. From my

perspective, I partially agree with this viewpoint. Because it is still an important part of
assessing a learner's abilities.

9
On the one hand, exams exert a pernicious influence upon education. Some people are good
at learning but they are not likely to suffer from harsh conditions during an exam. Therefore,
they cannot complete the tests under too much time pressure or fully express their ideas in a
comprehensive way. Also, taking tests is a snapshot of their knowledge rather than a detailed
understanding so the exam results are inconclusive as they are only based on their
performances on that day.

On the one hand, the examination is a useful way to assess how much they have learned or
remembered throughout the year. For starters, they are a fair system in that every student has
an equal opportunity because they all sit in the same room at the same time, which means
that students who work hard are rewarded with high grades. Second, because this exam is
conducted under the supervision of observers, it is difficult to cheat or seek outside
assistance. As a result, exams reflect students' true abilities.

In conclusion, besides some drawbacks of the examination, I strongly support that It is still
an important method to check a learner's knowledge and skills.

Topic 23. Going overseas for university study is an exciting prospect.

Studying in a foreign university is an exciting experience . From my perspective, this view is

completely true.

Firstly, the main reasons why students prefer foreign countries for study would be: they
always seek some changes regarding their education. If it is foreign country, they can learn
different languages and cultures while it is impossible if they constantly stay in one place.

Furthermore, an independent lifestyle is a big and significant part in one person's life. People
abroad are highly benefited. Many people in other countries want to run their life on their
own. They aspire for independent life and eventually this would develop their self-esteem
and confidence level.

In conclusion, I personally believe that people can get a preferable choice of study overseas
and also it is vital for one to begin a connection with new people.

Topic 24.Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start
school.

Some people believe that since one language is not adequate for communication, children
should start to learn a foreign language in their primary schools. I strongly agree with this
statement due to the following reasons.
10
First, the earlier children begin to learn a new language the better will be the result. If
children learn a foreign language at an early age, then he/she can cope with the different
cultures and enjoy a better position to read more books written in foreign languages.

Second, children are not afraid of making grammatical mistakes because basically they just
repeat words and sentences in the way they hear them. They quickly get used to the right
pronunciation and better feel the melody of a language.

In conclusion, I believe that it is essential for children to begin learning a foreign language in
their early ages. It brings many benefits and helps a child develop and gain more knowledge
which is good for a long run.

Topic 25. It is more important for students to study history and literature than it is for
them to study science and mathematics.

Many people believe that students should give more attention to the subjects of history and
literature rather than mathematical or science. I personally disagree with the statement, as I
believe that all subjects that are taught in school are important and the following paragraphs
will explain some of the reasons in detail.

Firstly, it is a fact that all subjects that are delivered at school are important. All the subjects
that are taught in school will be useful for students when they grow up, even though each
student will be specialized in some specific subject.

Secondly, it is obvious that all individuals have their own different talents. And if the school
only focuses on studying two or three particular subjects such as literature or history, then it
would be unfair for students who have the passion in mathematics or science.

In conclusion, I think that students must study many things including science and literature
in order to succeed in the modern world.

Topic 26.Teachers should give students homework every day.

Homework is the way to improve our knowledge, to memorize what we have learned .There
are many teachers who assign homework to students every day and their purpose is to make
students better . In my opinion, I think that daily homework is necessary for students.

First, daily homework is a good way for developing new knowledge. When children have
homework they consolidate what they have learned at school and then it is easier when they
have exams.
11
Furthermore, teachers should assign homework to students every day because if they don't
do it, students will become more lazy, unconcentrated, and will not be interested in what
they learn. For example, if a teacher doesn't give homework to her students, they would
decide that the subject is not important and that they will cope with each test and exam
without problem.

In conclusion, I believe that homework is necessary and important for students because this
could help them in their future because of their good general knowledge.

Topic 27. Universities should not accept equal numbers of male and female students in
every subject.

Many people believe that men and women should have equal access to education. However,
I disagree with the idea of accepting equal gender proportions in all university subjects.

First, It is unrealistic to expect the same number of men and women to enroll in all degree
programs. In reality, many courses are more popular with one gender than the other, and
aiming for equal proportions would be impractical. Nursing courses, for example, tend to
attract more female applicants, and it would be difficult to fill these courses if males were
given 50% of the available spots.

Second, it would be unfair to base admission to university courses on gender. Universities

should continue to select the best candidates for each course according to their
qualifications. In this way, both men and women have the same opportunities, and applicants
know that they will be successful if they work hard to achieve good grades at school.

In conclusion,I believe that the selection of university students should be based on merit,
and it would be both impractical and unfair to change to a selection procedure based on
gender.

Topic 28. Children who are taught to co-operate rather than compete become more
useful adults.

There has been a difference in opinion regarding the encouragement of the competitive sense
in children as people believe that teaching children to make cooperation rather than
competition is more effective for their future. From my perspective, both of those
perspectives are equally important.

12
On the one hand, some people believe that children who learn to compete will learn about
the value of hard work. They always are motivated to work hard to get what they want.
Moreover, children who dare to compete will be more confident with what they can do.

On the other hand, some people believe that collaboration is more useful than competition.
They argue that if children learn to contest, that makes them compete with each other rather
than collaborate in the future. Furthermore, high demand to be the winner or the best will
increase their stress level.

In conclusion, I would argue that a sense of competition is important for children . Besides,
they should also be taught to cooperate.

Topic 29. Rather than holding students back, modern technology has actually
improved standards of education considerably.

Nowadays, modern technology has totally changed our approach to study. Therefore, Rather
than holding students back, modern technology has actually improved standards of education
considerably. I totally agree with this view.

To begin with, typed assignments are much easier to read and are much neater. Evidently,
the use of computers and printed things will help us focus on presenting information as
accurately as possible and not handwriting.

Another advantage of computers is that access to any information has become much easier.
Students no longer have to wait for a book that has already been borrowed from the library
to start their research.

In conclusion, rather than holding students back, I believe modern technology has actually
improved standards of education considerably.

Topic 30.Formal examinations are the only effective way to assess a student's
performance.

Many people believe that formal exams are the best method to check a pupil’s performance
in the class. Other types of exams such as project works and extracurricular activities are not
fruitful to find learners’ efficiency. I partly agree with this point of view.

On the one hand, The formal examination is a beneficial way to check how much they learn
or remember whatever is taught to them throughout the year. Moreover, it is also difficult to

13
cheat or take external help, as this exam is conducted under the supervision of observers,
unlike continual assessment. Therefore, formal exams reflect the students' true ability.

On the other hand, project works, presentations, assignments, group works, and so on are
easy ways to check learners’ performance. Through it, The teacher could find some skills of
students such as reading skills, writing skills, communication skills, and problem-solving.
Besides, It is less stressful than attending formal exams.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that formal and practical exams both have their importance
to assess someone's ability to perform in academics.

31. We should all grow fat and be happy.

There are many people who say they are fat and happy but for the many others whose weight
problem is making them unhappy and who want to do something about it to make
themselves happier. In my opinion, I agree with the first statement and I will support my
view with reasons.

Firstly, we only live once so let’s enjoy ourselves. We follow standards of the times
throughout our life and spend a lifetime fighting a losing battle against spreading hips,
protruding tummies and double chins.

Secondly, many people obsessed with weight are often miserable as they are constantly
hungry. Being too worried about weight gain makes them not eat in moderation, even
skipping many meals. This affects about every facet of your bodily function that the brain is
involved in, including concentration, memory, sleep patterns, mood and your motor skills.

In conclusion, I believe that finding peace and personal happiness is the most important
thing.

32. Other measures are required to improve public health rather than sports facilities

A group of people believe that by adding more sports facilities in the community, it will
increase the public awareness about a healthy lifestyle. On the contrary, others think that the
idea is ineffective and they believe that there are other ways which are more effective and
efficient. I partially agree with this idea.

On the one hand, some people think that the best solution for improving public health is by
providing a lot of sports facilities in the society. The existence of jogging track facilities,

14
athletic fields, basketball hall or football ground in residential areas would trigger the
residents in doing some exercises.

On the other hand, another group of people believe that building some sports facilities in the
community would not be effective without health education campaigns. It is undeniable that
health campaigns are an essential matter since it is important to open the mind of the public
about having a healthy lifestyle. The campaign should be well prepared, socialized properly
and implemented thoroughly, therefore, the public will get the awareness about healthy
lifestyles.

In conclusion, I do believe that building some sports facilities in residential areas should be
aligned with health education campaigns, therefore, the facilities would be utilized by the
public..

33. Supplementary medicine and prescribed exercises can contribute to the

maintenance of good health and fitness.

These days, many people try to do exercise, see a doctor regularly and eat prescribed diets
for good health while some people believe that the best way to stay fit and healthy is simply
to lead a normal life with a balanced diet, regular work and leaving bad habits. In my
opinion, both parties have their reasons to support their arguments.

To begin with, Some people also become interested in special diets and physical exercise.
So, they do Yoga twice a week and take preventative medicine every day. This helps them to
remain in good shapes. But everybody does not need to get involved in Yoga or in
demanding spots. Someone who has a habit of walking in the morning and evening for an
hour every day would get many benefits from doing so.

Secondly, Preventative medicine is also very effective for many people. Although we eat
vegetables and fruits, we can not absorb every food value we need for our body. So,
supplementary medicine and vitamins are sometimes very effective. But there must be a
limit on the amount of medicine we rely on. If we take several medicines every week, we
will become dependent and that would interrupt the natural immune system of your body.

In conclusion, a healthy and simple lifestyle would help us remain fit but sometimes
supplementary medicine and prescribed exercise might accelerate the process.

34. Smoking in public places should be banned.

15
Some people suggest imposing a restriction on smoking in places where people often have
social activities. I totally agree with this view for the following reason.

The first reason which drives governments to ban smoking is related to fire risk. Smoking
can increase the risks of fire in places with highly flammable materials. For example, lots of
forest fires have been caused because a smoker has thrown a cigarette lit up in the forest.

The second reason is that it is harmful for passive smokers. It runs a high risk of serious
health problems for non-smokers such as cancer, cirrhosi, asthma and so on.

In conclusion, it is clear that the government should ban smoke in public places. This could
have positive impacts on both community health and development of society.

35. Out of a country's health budget, a large proportion should be diverted from
treatment to spending on health education and preventative measures.

it is often believed that the government should allocate a huge amount of money to invest in
raising people's awareness about fitness and precaution steps rather than in treatment.I
strongly support this view. This is really essential to become a well-being nation.

On the one hand, we can not deny that the health budget for treatment is to reduce some
unexpected situations for patients. Thus, the government focuses on training forces and
updating modern technology is necessary policy.

On the other hand, there is the fact that prevention is better than cure. The treatment costs
would be reduced significantly if more money is spent on preventative measures. In
addition, incentivizing health programs can motivate and contribute to enhancing people's
awareness of taking care of health.

In conclusion, I believe that the government should spend sufficient amount of money on
treatment too, but high proportion of amount should be spent on health education and
preventive measures

36. Marine mammals should not be kept in captivity in marine parks any longer.

Many people say that there is no doubt that marine mammals should NOT be held in
captivity. I strongly agree with this view because they have the right to be kept in their
natural environment.

16
Firstly, captivity causes many health problems in marine mammals. Due to boredom and
limited space many dolphins abuse themselves; they often bang their heads against tank and
aquarium walls. Some of these poor innocent creatures face abusive treatment by their
caretakers, thus shortening their life span.

Second, Captivity shortens animal life spans, not increases them. Wild dolphins can live 40
years in the wild and orcas can live 90 years, but when held in captivity they rarely survive
their teens. Twenty-three out of 25 orcas have died in captivity.

In conclusion, I think marine mammals should definitely not be held in captivity. In a world
where much of nature and the wild has already been lost to us, it is up to us to let these
beautiful marine mammals free.

37. It is the responsibility of individuals and governments to prevent further damage to

the environment.

People hold different views about whether the government should shoulder the responsibility
of preserving the environment or each person is responsible one. From my standpoint, it will
be more beneficial if both the country’s authorities and individuals share the responsibility.

On the one hand, the government may play a pivotal role in maintaining the environment
safe and healthy. It is authorities that should introduce the legislation in order to mitigate
environmental problems, such as air pollution and more. Another prominent role the
government could play would be creating TV programs to educate citizens, and to persuade
them to care the nature more.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that each person can play an important role in protecting
their own neighborhood. By stopping plastic waste from entering and contaminating
waterways people are able to conserve drinkable water and its inhabitants.

In conclusion, due to the large amount of work involved, mobilizing all the possible forces is
a more sensible approach.

38. The exploration and development of safe alternatives of fossil fuels should be the
most important global priority today.

Many people believe that the research for green and safe energy as a replacement for oil
should be the main global priority these days. To a certain point, I would agree with that, but
some considerations should be cautiously measured as well.

17
It is true that as for the sake of the environment, people should seek for a safer and cleaner
source of energy. It is undeniable that the world has become overdependent on fossil fuels
such as coal and oil as their source of energy. Therefore, some countries have been spending
a large amount of money for the development of renewable energy.

Despite all the positive sides of alternative energy, people should also be aware of several
things. Firstly, many people do not realize that some of these energy generators are also
dangerous for the environment. Secondly, the expenditure for research and development of
green energy worldwide is higher than the exploration cost of fossil fuels.

In conclusion, I would agree that we should seek safer and greener sources of energy as an
alternative to fossil fuels globally.

39. Animal experiments should be banned because it is morally wrong to cause

animals to suffer.

It is true that animal testing has been an ongoing process which leads to a number of life-
saving breakthroughs in medical history. While I acknowledge that experimenting on
animals produces serious ethical problems, I also believe that such research plays
an indispensable role in the development of medicines.

On the one hand, opponents of the use of animal experimentations have compelling reasons
against this method. it is argued that the procedures performed on living creatures for
purposes of assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products can cause
them tremendous pain and distress.

On the other hand, I would have to support animal research due to the fact that reliable
alternatives may not always be available. As a result, it is necessary to carry out animal
testing for new drugs so people can enjoy a better quality of life.

In conclusion, it seems to me that the benefits of using live animals in medical research
clearly outweigh the drawbacks.

41. Traffic and housing problems in major cities could be solved by moving large
companies and factories and their employees to the countryside.

Increased traffic and lack of housing supply are major concerns in many places. By
relocating large businesses, including their factories and employees, to rural areas, these
issues can be properly addressed. I personally find this idea justifiable; however, at the same
18
time, some other initiatives should be implemented if we expect to solve traffic and housing
problems effectively.

Moving businesses and their facilities to the countryside will cause urban population to
shrink substantially . as a result, this will relieve pressure on urban housing supply systems.
Another apparent advantage of a decreased population is lower volumes of traffic which
help reduce traffic congestion.

Nonetheless, I think the mentioned problems are rather complicated and can only be solved
completely by the introduction of some other measures. Building wider roads and
motorways will allow a greater number of vehicles, both private and public, and therefore
reduce traffic congestion.

In conclusion, I believe that we need a combination of relocating and a number of other

actions, as listed above, to tackle these problems in a more comprehensive manner.

42. Economic development can benefit from rapid urbanization.

No country, developed or third-world countries reach a high income level without

urbanizing first.  It is often argued that urbanization contributes to accelerating economic
development of the region as well as the country. I totally agree with this view, as now will
be discussed

To begin with, Urbanization brings several benefits in many fields, especially the economy.
In fact, In cities and towns, there are ample job opportunities that continually draw people
from rural areas to seek a better livelihood and well-income for workers, which could make
the development of the economy a good way to expand.

Furthermore, rapid urbanization brings out modern infrastructure technology. It has attracted

strong domestic as well as foreign investment. All these inevitably lead to further
development of the country's economy.

In conclusion,  I strongly support that urbanization plays an important role in improving the
economy. It speeds up development in all fields, which creates a wealthy nation in the
future.

46. Young people can teach older people.

19
Older people are generally believed to have better experiences and practical views about life
than the young generation. However, young people can also teach the old. I totally agree
with this opinion

First, young people intend to learn new things faster, including the use of new technologies.
Young people can always teach the older generation how to use technologies and those
modern tools.

Second, young people are more motivated. They aspire to succeed professionally which
requires vast knowledge and experience these days. So, they try to acquire knowledge and
experience from different sources like the Internet, books, newspaper, magazines and of
course from conversations with other people.

To conclude, I think that young people have many things to teach older people. Moreover,
people from every generation have something to learn from each other..

47. We should not make teenagers do unpaid work in their free time to help the local
community.

Many young people work on a volunteer basis, and this can only be beneficial for both the
individual and society as a whole. However, I do not agree that we should therefore force all
teenagers to do unpaid work.

Most young people are already under enough pressure with their studies, without being
given the added responsibility of working in their spare time. School is just as demanding as
a full-time job, and teachers expect their students to do homework and exam revision on top
of attending lessons every day. When young people do have some free time, we should
encourage them to enjoy it with their friends or to spend it doing sports and other leisure
activities.
At the same time, I do not believe that society has anything to gain from obliging young
people to do unpaid work. In fact, I would argue that it goes against the values of a free and
fair society to force a group of people to do something against their will.

In conclusion, teenagers may choose to work for free and help others, but I believe that we
should not make this compulsory.

52. Advertisers perform a useful service to the community.

Nowadays, we can find advertisements in every place and every time. Some people believe
these advertisements are good for views.I partially agree with this idea.
20
On the one hand, advertisement is a powerful tool for them to gain more customers. To
begin with, everyday all factories around the world produce new products and advertising is
the only way to introduce their goods. In addition, people do not have enough time or
knowledge to try all products or find the best product. Moreover, the advertising industry
causes a lot of job opportunities for people.

On the other hand, we cannot deny the damaging effect of advertisements on our lives. First
of all, unfortunately, advertisements encourage people to buy unnecessary goods. This
matter is harmful for the family's budget. Secondly, advertisements are annoying when we
watch our favorite TV series or a play of our favorite football team.

In conclusion, upon all the disadvantages, I think advertising is good for our current life.

53. The clothing that people wear affects the way they behave.

Many people think that they are different in behavior when they wear different kinds of
clothes. However, I believe that it is only their incorrect feeling about themselves. This is
because we change our clothes very frequently, our jobs will decide our clothes and it is the
weather that affects the way we wear.

First, we change our clothes very frequently and our behavior cannot change so fast.
Usually, everyone has many kinds of clothes to wear. Maybe in just two or three day a
person changes their clothes, and apparently their behaviors cannot change so quickly.

Secondly, it is the weather that determines our clothes. For example, when the weather is
hot, people usually wear thin clothes. In contrast, when the weather is cold, they will put on
warm clothes. But, I am sure that they are not different when the weather changes.

In conclusion, although there are many factors that determine the way we dress, I strong
believe that when we dress differently, we will not change.
54. We shouldn't follow fashion trends and we should dress in what we like and feel
comfortable in.

Certain individuals have an opinion that people should wear dresses in which they feel more
confident and comfortable instead of following trends. In my opinion, I do believe that the
dressing style of people should be according to their taste and personality.

On the one hand, The designs, colours and styles change every year thus making people
spend a lion’s portion of their salary in purchasing these clothes. Actors and actresses
21
undoubtedly spend so much to purchase and wear these dresses in award functions and
parties in order to remain in publicity and to maintain their reputation in the glamourous
world.

However, I believe that people should wear dresses which make them feel relaxed. Every
person has a different personality and fashion identity; hence they should not copy others.
Furthermore, instead of spending an enormous part of their income on purchasing clothes,
they should save money for future uncertainties and invest in profitable schemes.

In my opinion, I strongly agree that people should dress according to their taste and
preference rather than wearing uncomfortable clothes to please the society and people.

55. Foreign visitors should not be charged more than local visitors for cultural and
historical attractions.

It is sometimes argued that tourists from overseas should not be charged more than local
residents to visit important sites and monuments. I completely agree with this idea.

First, Foreign tourists contribute to the economy of the host country with the money they
spend on a wide range of goods and services, including food, souvenirs, accommodation and
travel. The governments and inhabitants of every country should be happy to subsidise
important tourist sites and encourage people from the rest of the world to visit them.

Second, If travellers realised that they would have to pay more to visit historical and cultural
attractions in a particular nation, they would perhaps decide not to go to that country on
holiday. If overseas tourists stopped coming due to higher prices, there would be a risk of
insufficient funding for the maintenance of these important buildings.

In conclusion, I believe that every effort should be made to attract tourists from overseas,
and it would be counterproductive to make them pay more than local residents

56. International tourism creates tension rather than understanding between people
from different cultures.

Many people claim that international travel fosters conflicts instead of understanding
between individuals from various cultures. To a certain extent, I disagree with this statement,
I think that besides some negative impacts, facilitating cultural understanding is the most
significant merit which we can not deny.

22
On the one hand, attractions on the world stage are always an appealing location and attract
a huge amount of visitors, which contributes to causing adverse impacts. To begin with, the
decrease in traditional and cultural values. That is because many globetrotters lack cultural
knowledge and have irresponsible behavior such as rude table manners and inappropriate
clothes. Moreover, the influx of tourists also creates a good opportunity for illegal activities
such as robbers, pickpockets, or drug dealers. As a consequence, the tension is getting more
serious between the host community and visitors.

On the other hand, the last purpose of visiting a foreign country is to expand horizons and
have insight into various cultures in the world. Traveling to a faraway nation way would let
tourists have a chance to be directly exposed to foreign cultures. This leads to a more
thorough understanding of local customary values. Furthermore, international tourism also
contributes to boosting cultural exchange. This is critical because, in this day and age,
comprehending various cultures is essential for developing and maintaining social
interactions.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that international tourism helps tourists from other countries
to learn about multiple cultures and as a result, It may develop international friendships
between countries.

58. Convenience foods will become increasingly prevalent, but it is unlikely that they
will eventually replace traditional foods and traditional methods of food preparation.

Some people believe that the increasing prevalence of such foods will pose a threat to the
availability of traditional cuisine and methods of cooking in the future. Personally, I
completely disagree with this view.

To begin with, food manufacturers frequently add artificial preservatives and other
unhealthy ingredients to improve the taste and mouthfeel of convenience goods. Besides,
processed foods are high in saturated fat, sugar and sodium While providing little nutritional
value. When consumed in excess, such foods can quickly lead to serious  health issues such
as obesity, cancers, and strokes.

Furthermore, that is the real needs of  humans. Although fast food will help us save time
and money, we can not use it all day, even a whole life. Because convenience foods are not
as diverse as traditional foods. They easily make people tired of eating convenience foods.

In conclusion, my view is that traditionally prepared foods play a vital part in human life
It is unlikely that convenience foods will replace conventional methods of food production
and preparation in the future.

61.Technology has affected relationships in both positive and negative ways.

Over the last decade, technology has become very accustomed to using it in people's lives.
New technologies have altered the path people communicate with each other and affected
relationships in many ways .From my point of view, this is a beneficial development.

To begin with, cooperation between people in different countries was much more difficult for
different countries to communicate when it is limited to written letters or telegrams.
However, nowadays telephones and the Internet allow business people in many countries to
interact through email, video or phone without face-to face meetings.
Consequently, technology will create a good environment for people to form relationships in
business.

The second point is social life.It has been observed that people use social networks like
Facebook to make new friends who share common interests from all nationalities without
any efforts or travels. This helps people to exchange different cultures with each other as well
as make acquaintances with many people.

In conclusion, although technology has certainly revolutionized communication between

people, I believe that technology has more positive impacts on people's relationships.

62.Modern communication systems play an indispensable role in our life.

Contemporary communication tools yield positive results for their consumers but a host of
people refute this statement. While it is observed that a sizable minority of negative attitudes
towards the consequences of communication devices, I believe that these facilities play an
indispensable role in our life.

To begin with, a substantial majority of TV channels are producing various learning

programs which contain educating the public. As a prime example, tremendous televisions
have illustrated driving rules via animation and short movies.

Furthermore, TV and radio entertain an overwhelming number of individuals every day as

well as audiences can grasp beneficial information in a wide range of fields. Most
importantly, we can considerably decrease our costs and avoid wasting our time by using
website services and TV news

24
To sum up, although communication utilities cause insurmountable hurdles for youth age
groups, I would really like to reiterate that these instruments expedite the acquisition of
knowledge and decrease expenditures.

64.The increasing use and development of new technology has more advantages than
disadvantages.

The issue of whether the advent of new technology can bring many advantages to society is
of great concern to many people. In my opinion, although using machines has many benefits,
I personally believe that this development has more negative effects.

To begin with, because of the extensive number of machines, many people lose their jobs.
Especially in large population countries, high unemployment rate may cause crime and
social instability.

Furthermore, the use of machines also poses serious pollution and energy dissipation. For
example, nowadays people prefer to use a dish-washing machine to wash dishes and plates
rather than hand washing. However, they did not know that compared with washing hands
and dish-washing machines, they consume at least 2 times more water and electricity to
wash these tableware.

In conclusion, although we cannot deny machines play a vital role in people living and
working, I strong believe that problems posed by machines should draw more attention as
well.

65.Some subjects may be better taught using computers, but to explain more important
concepts a human teacher is indispensable

Computers are now essential in many areas of life. However, this is not true for education.
Although some subjects may be better taught using computers, I agree that important
concepts a human teacher is still indispensable.

First, the learning and practice of more complex ideas, the computer is not adequate. The
computer can evaluate an answer as right or wrong, but it cannot  find out why a student is
making mistakes and then represents important concepts in a different way, so the student
will not understand.

Furthermore, computers cannot determine at what stage in a mathematics problem the

student has made an error, it can only indicate that the final answer is wrong.Tasks involving

25
reasoning cannot be taught by computers, as there are too many variables for a computer to
deal with successfully.

In conclusion, while computers may be useful as a tool for practicing simple skills, I assert
that  they are not an essential feature of modern education because they cannot monitor a
student's grasp of concepts, nor evaluate a student's reasoning. Therefore, the human teacher
will remain indispensable.
