It is inevitable that traditional cultures will be lost as

technology develops. Technology and traditional cultures are
incompatible. To what extent do you agree or disagree with
this view?
ANSWER:

In recent years, there has been a growth of new technology tools that are
transforming the whole civilization. Because of the influence of contemporary
technology, some individuals argue that traditional civilizations will become
extinct. From my perspective, I totally disagree with this view since I believe that
technology may also play a significant role in cultural preservation.

On the one hand, there are two major reasons why traditional culture will perish in
the technological era. First, as transportation, communication and the internet
improved, populations dispersed and migrated to other regions to establish.
Historically, when technology had not yet achieved wealth, people tended to
cluster in small groups or villages that aided in the transmission of cultural values
from generation to generation. However, this is no longer an issue since young
people prefer to flee from impoverished and backward regions as soon as they have
the opportunity, and they migrate to the promised land which is contemporary and
richer to live in, resulting in the extinction of local culture. Second, instead of
listening to their community's folklore and mythology, young people choose
Western cultures such as cartoons, music and sports that have a profound effect on
their attitude. Thus, yellow-skinned children who have a Western mindset are
becoming an issue because traditional values are no longer recognized.

On the other hand, traditional cultures continue to survive in various regions of the
world and are aided by technological advances. To begin with, as people recognize
the importance of cultural preservation, the internet has evolved into a great
instrument for preserving these values. For instance, water puppet shows and
traditional Vietnamese dances have been recorded and shared on social media
platforms such as YouTube and social networks all over the world, introducing
cultural aspects of Vietnam to the international population. Furthermore,
digitalization of written documents, video clips and music has played a critical role
in preserving these assets for thousands of years. Without the strength of cloud
storage systems and contemporary technology, historic texts would be damaged
and lost over time, and customs or pictures will be forgotten as a result of the
urbanization process.

In conclusion, although many traditional ways of life have been destroyed owing to
technological improvements, I hold a strong belief that other traditional
communities have survived and even flourished.
