Extension The rivers and watersheds of Spain

4 Name: Date: Class:

There are three main stages in a river course:

− The upper course is the beginning of the river, from the source to the plain.
− The middle course is the part of the river flowing across the plain.
− Finally, the lower course, which is the end of the journey of a river, called the mouth.
Spanish rivers which flow into the sea can be grouped in three different watersheds. A
watershed is an area of land through which rivers flow into a common body of water.

1 Relate the parts of the relief to the courses of a river.
