Electric Motor Bearing Design

Questions:

1. Load, 50 N and 500 N is for which torque? 22 Nm? 12 Nm? 4 Nm?

This load is due to belt drive and will change according to torque, We need to ask this
load for each torque is duty cycle, or apply loads for maximum torque to all load
cases?
2. Motor rotor weight will apply the load of the bearings, so ask the client total weight
of rotor including windings, and apply this in Romax model (by gravity option ON and
add rotor disc)
3. In Electric motor application, many other forces are coming on rotor/stator -
unbalanced magnetic pull, imbalance (unbalance mass of rotor), torque ripple, etc. For
all these factors multiply the motor weight by 2 and do the calculations (refer the
document images below)
4. In Electric motor bearing, only static life is not important, bearing should be design
for:
a. Dynamic loads of the beating due to torque ripple
b. Noise and vibration of bearing and electric motor (what are the Target
vibration level of Motor?)
c. Bearing lubricant
