EHS GSA Code of Conduct

1. Be respectful. We have a limited amount of time in this group, and everyone deserves a
chance to speak. Listen when others are talking. Keep comments under five minutes. If
someone is giving a presentation, hold your questions and comments until the end.
2. We will adhere to the agenda for each meeting and stay on task.
3. Be open to educating others. If someone genuinely wants to learn about something, be
kind and help them!
4. We will be welcoming to all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender
identity. People do not have to be members of the LGBTQ+ community in order to
attend. The organization’s name (Gay-Straight Alliance) means we aim to build bridges
between all people.
5. No sexual innuendos at the meetings. This is still a school club, and we need to behave
appropriately.
6. No touching others without consent.
7. Be gentle with your words. Remember, the purpose of this group is to be loving and kind
in response to the hatred and prejudice. Hateful and derogatory language will not be
allowed. Likewise, making fun of people and naming people not at the meeting is not
okay.
8. No electronics out when people are talking, and no recording the meeting. If you want to
take a picture of someone, make sure you get their consent.
9. If you are going to discuss a potentially triggering topic (e.g. violence, suicide, sexual
assault), please clear it with the club leadership beforehand.
10. What is said in this group stays here (unless you are discussing a general topic for
educational purposes). If someone purposely outs someone, they will be automatically
dismissed from the group.

If someone breaks one of these guidelines, they will be placed on probation for
two meetings and possibly be expelled. We need to make this GSA a safe, fun,
and respectful experience for everyone!
