sustainability through Eco-Cultural Tourism & Ecotourism Development Strategies

ABSTRACT

Tagum City is considered as one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Their
tourism reflects the city’s richness in culture and development, and one of the major
components of its economic thrive. From entertainment, to agriculture, to business ventures
and environmentally inclined tourism, that develop and made the city known all over the
country. With its emerging grow, the lack of tourist-oriented facilities and amenities hinders
the potential growth of the city’s tourism industry.

According to the city’s tourism agency, promoting sustainable-oriented tourism has


become their main goal. Thereof, the proposed project aims to be an agent in promoting and
establishing the culture of the city & sustainable tourism in the form of mixed-used
development through the concept of Eco-Cultural Tourism & Ecotourism Development
Strategies, in lined with the established land used plan and zoning ordinances of the city.

The study will focus on the concept and strategies of ecotourism in planning and
development of the project. Moreover, the study will also cover and determine other factors
the proponent deems that could aid the study such as the possible users, planning
techniques, and spaces necessary for the development of the study. With this, data
gathering including research, case studies, interviews and surveys will be used to
supplement the proposal and provide best solutions in accordance to the study.

The proposed location for the study is within the Tourism Development Zone of the
city, based on their established comprehensive land use plan. Furthermore, the project aims
to promote the city’s culture, enrich the tourism and enhance the cohesiveness towards a
more develop city.
