THRACING THE PAST

to Iron Kingdoms

Dear Madam / Sir,

We have sent a series of information regarding the organisation of the 14th

International Congress of Thracology in the first circular letter. The Congress will be held in
Deva, from the 6th to the 10th of May 2020, under the general heading:

THRACing the Past: From Bronze Communities to Iron Kingdoms

In this second circular letter, we wish to add some specifications concerning the
development of the event.

By the time you receive the present circular, you may sign up by filling in the
registration form available online on the Congress’s website at https://thracology2020.com/.
The form may be found under the Registration tab and may be completed until the 30 th of
November 2019, the deadline for registration. Please fill in this form the abstract of the paper
that you wish to communicate (presentation or poster), with its exact title, name / names of
the author / authors and a concise text. The content of the abstract should not exceed 500
words and must be in accordance with the title and the proposed topic. The abstract will be
written in the language in which the paper will be presented (or exposed) at the Congress
(English, French, German) and will be drafted in the Microsoft Office Word format (.doc or
.docx). In accordance with the Congress’s title, the themes that may be approached are: the
Thracians and their history, art, culture, language, religion, but also subjects related to
numismatics, epigraphy, and interdisciplinary studies, all of these integrated in the
chronological span of the Bronze Age and Late Antiquity.

You will find inside the registration form the option to apply for a grant, which is
addressed specifically to young, retired and non-EU researchers. The grant consists in free
accommodation and meals during the entire period of the Congress. Information regarding the
documentary field trip set for the last day of the Congress (10th of May) is comprised in the
registration form, as well. We are also offering the possibility for the participants to be
accompanied by another person. The respective partners should fill in an identical registration
form, ticking their dedicated box and providing the requested data, excepting the ones
concerning the scientific activity. Please send us this information in order to help us
organising the upcoming event in the best possible way!

After receiving the registration form, the organisers will decide on accepting or
rejecting your paper. In this respect, you will receive a written answer as soon as possible.
Therewith, the researchers who applied for a grant will be notified on the result of their
request. The programme of the Congress will be completed in the next stage following the
registration period.

We remind you the fact that attending the Congress implies the payment of a fee. This
fee can be paid starting with the 15th of July 2019, as soon as you receive the confirmation of
acceptance. The amount of the fee is 50 euro if paid until the 15th of January 2020 and 75 euro
if paid after, but no later than the 15th of March 2020. Exceptionally, the payment of the fee is
