 “Goyo” (Ang Batang Heneral)
The movie entitled “Goyong” is based on the life of General Gregorio Del
Pilar, one of the youngest general during the regime of President Emilio
Aguinaldo. Though he is young, he was able to show leadership and bravery in
defending the country against the American Colonizers. As a leader, his image
exemplifies that he is a man of his word and action. He was one of the reason why
we were able to attain our independence.
This movie thought us lessons that we should love and defend our country
without hesitation and self- reservation like what Del Pilar had shown. We must
possess the value of being patriotic so that we can let the other countries know
that Filipinos have great love to their country. That they would do everything to
defend it from the enemies.
Though in the movie we saw some weaknesses of the Filipinos such as
being traitors by giving information to the Americans in exchange of money and
positions in the government. Although most of the Filipinos tried their best to
defend our country, there were also some who only think of themselves. That’s
why in the movie it also shows that they still lacks unity to stand and fight for our
independence.
Therefore, we Filipinos must be one in protecting our beloved homeland
from any unexpected attacks, destruction and conquerors. Our heroes have done
great deeds to achieved and attained our freedom, that’s why we must continue
to value that great sacrifices that they had done in order for us to live freely and
independently. We must also be a role model in showing our deep love for the
country so that our next generation will do the same.
